Author's Note

The Stars of My Heart is a story that is very close to my heart. Not only are the characters people I already know, but also people I hope to become. The journey of writing this really made one thing clear to me; we must remain having hope. A hope for something bright and beautiful, and a dream to make it happen, and though we must have hope for the future it is also important to make peace with the past. Zaria had to allow her heart to forgive and never once did it make her weak like John had accused her to be, but it made her into the strong young woman her mother raised her to be.

In this book Zaria is finally able to discover who she is and how to cope with who she was. Change is inevitable and natural in all of our lives. She finds a way to embrace love, friendship, forgiveness, and hope into her heart and at the end, she finally became part of a family like she had always dreamed of.

At the time I wrote this I was fifteen years old, and publishing it I am now sixteen. I would like to think that there would be other teenagers out there that will be able to find themselves in the characters I have written and be able to feel not so alone. I have learned that there are many truths we can find in fiction works, and every story has a lesson and message that can be found. I hope that I was able to portray that in my story.
