“I don't think there’s a space for you here. I need you to leave”

She watched him in horror. His comment was the last topping over the cake Chelsea had served. She pushed through the small crowd that had gathered. Halting when she reached Louisa, whose face was full of sympathy and apology.

“I’m so sorry for leaving you alone. they can be so mean sometimes “Louisa said.

“You know, he was right about one thing, This is not a place for me“ Adi replied

She turned and got one final look at his face before exiting the party.

He watched her from the balcony. Micheal didn't care what was going on with her and why. After all, She was nobody to him and he intended to keep it that way, like he always does…

Adilene finally reached her home 15 minutes later. she thanked the chauffeur who Louisa had asked to drop her off.

She sat on the bed as she dialed her mom’s number. They needed to have that conversation about how much of their family she was telling her new friends about.

“Hey, sweetie“. Her mom's voice came through the phone .” It’s late, what’s wrong? Why are you calling so late ?”

“Mom, I hope you are okay. I know it’s late but this is urgent.”

Her mom was silent and concerned.

“Can you please not say a lot to your new workmates about our old life? I thought you said we are starting over “

Her mom became concerned at her words and Adiene told her what had transpired

Magdelene ignored everything her daughter had said and started blasting about her attending a party with unknown people.

Adi crawled into her shell the minute her mom raised her voice over the phone. She was pondering if her mom was blasting over the fact that she went to a party or because Adilene had brought up her father.

It had always been a sore topic for their family since her Dad left. She was ten when he did that morning.

she woke up that morning to her father getting into his car and that was the last time she ever saw him. She had been standing at the window of her bedroom, watching him pull his bags into his trunk.

Her mom shouted, “Just go ahead and leave! And never come back!!!”

Adilene's young self-started to shout and cry. calling her father’s name, but it was too late to run down to him.

She had seen him look up at her through her wet and blurry teary face and say, “ My pumpkin, no matter what. I will always be your father.”

She couldn't tell if he had sadness, a smile, or just no emotion at all on his face when he spoke

She grew up with the tightness in her heart of not understanding why her dad left.

Her mom never told her why. Magdalene always had a brave face and would harshly brush Adilene off whenever she asked about her dad. It became a forbidden topic. Even amongst their neighboring family.

It crafted a spirit of fear and vulnerability within her for the people she loved. Thinking that they could walk out at any minute so she had to do everything she could to keep them in her life.

Especially her mom.

She was the only parent she had left and she didn’t want her walking out on her, so Adilene learned to succumb to her every demand.

This made her a people pleaser. Outside she would smile but alone, try so hard to understand why her whole life was so out of her control. She felt like she was only living for other people’s satisfaction and not her own; just so they would…stay.

That was why as she now sat in the darkness of her room and listened to her mom shout echo through their empty house, the only person she could blame in the situation was herself.

The frenzied call ended 15 minutes later and Adi’s mind transcended to other matters.

She remembered Michael’s harsh words one last time, which were more embarrassing than Chelsea's.

A tear threatened to escape her eyes as She sat on her bed curled up but she blinked it away.

She was grateful to him for making Chelsea shut up because at that moment she seemed incapable of her words. Something she noticed had been happening a lot in just a few hours of being in this new place.

Adi couldn’t decide if Michael did it to save his party from the drama or if he genuinely wanted to help.
However, at another conceptualization of his comment, she settled on the initial.
Her eyes shut at the thought.

She sat in the middle of the dark huge home library. Her face was illuminated only by the moonlight that crept in through the big long window drips. The arm of her black sleeveless dress was being pulled off her shoulders.

“ You have the most beautiful skin I have ever seen, Miss Gray”  he crouched over her petite figure as she sat in the chair. Adilene's eyes closed at his every contact with her skin.

He ran his hands along her shoulders. His lips along her neck stopped at every hot spot.

She had never had a guy’s touch on her skin make her nerves jump like wide animals. Her body was helpless in his palms.
“ If you let me in I promise to make sure I am the only person you ever think about in your life…”  He paused and pulled her head backward with a subtle force to continue his journey.

Her eyes were still closed as she swallowed every sensation of the moment.

“The only man to keep your wild thoughts alive. I know that’s selfish but that is how much I want you to be mine.”

She didn’t even have words to reply. it was as if just his presence over her and his hands on her was doing enough drastic damage to her brain.

He wrapped his hand around her small waist and pulled her out of the chair and onto him with the same precise force. Her head now lay back on his chest.

He squeezed onto her waist earning a sound of pleasure out of her.

He seemed to know just how much to do and just how little. His lips were on her shoulders, making every contact more intricate and hotter by the second.

“Do you want me to stop?” he asked. She shook her head.

“Open your eyes and use your words, baby,” he said

Even the tone of his voice seemed to be on the spectrum of her desires at the moment.

Her eyes opened slowly.

Adilene looked up at his face. By the next second. Her expression instantly gravitated from one of pleasure and longing to absolute shock!

“No.”

she breathed out.

“NO!”

Her eyes opened as she swiftly sat up in her bed. Her body is still hot from her little sleep session. The face of the guy registered in her mind again.

Her mouth hung open in shock and confusion as she finally said his name.

 “Freaking MICHAEL?!”
