"You can't keep "protecting" her like this. It's unfair," Price says through the headset. Soap, Gaz, Price and Ghost are sitting in the helicopter on their way to the mission's location. Gaz nods his head in agreement and Ghost responds with an eye roll.
"Fine, let's just let her go off on a mission, get hurt or worse, and then deal with the guilt that follows after." Everyone here knew how much y/n meant to them even if they didn't openly admit it.
They all operated on autopilot until her. She was determined to breathe life into the cold and stale base that the boys called home...and she did.
Weekly movie nights became a nice normal, even if Ghost pretended he rather be anywhere else. Prank wars were in full swing with a score board in the Rec room. Y/n even got them into board games, though everyone has to leave their weapons at the door now.
Y/n quickly learned all of them were sore losers. Ghost ended up stabbing the "go to jail" space in monopoly after getting it three times in a row. Y/n may have counted the turns while shuffling the cards and placed three "go to jail" cards in the deck so he would pull them three times in a row. That's pure speculation though and Ghost couldn't prove it.
Gaz and Soap ended up drawing their weapons when Soap realized Gaz was lying about one of his cards in Clue. "Ya lyin bastard," Soap had said while whipping out his gun from his holster. "Do I need to remind ya what a gun looks like?"
Price? He just threw around his authority. "As your captain," he began but everyone else chimed in, "you can ban us from any mission and give us the bottom of the barrel duties if we're caught lying about our cards," everyone finishes in unison.
Price smirks, "Smart lot," he says snatching the card from Gaz and telling him "Go fish."
Pranks and games aside, shes's every part the glue that holds them together. She healed a hole in this team that they didn't know was there.
Soap and Gaz treat her as their sister. Constantly looking out for her, checking in on her, and even intimidating dates. Price looks at her like a father looks at his daughter and Ghost? He just looks at her. In every way. He couldn't fucking look away.
Soap decides to opens his mouth making Ghost sigh, "She'll end up hating you Lt."
Ghost nods his head already accepting that possibility, "Atleast she'll be alive to hate me. I'll suffer with that instead of suffering over her headstone."
Everyone seemed to silently agree. None of them wanted to live in a universe were Y/n didn't exist.
A few hours into this party and Ghost wanted to rip his eyeballs out of his head. The party was fucking boring and the target was chatting up the 20th girl tonight. He much rather be back at base in his black shirt and cargo pants than in a stuffy tuxedo playing gentlemen.
The door opened letting in yet another guest but this time Ghost's body goes rigid. The hair on his body stood up and every nerve ending shot with electricity. His body always sensed your presence even across the room.
He was never one for drugs but you were proving to be his favorite. A bad habit he could never get enough of.
"Well shit just hit the fan." Soap says over the intercom piece in his ear.
All the eyes in the room turned towards her.
Gaz speaks before Ghost have time to fully process how gorgeous she looked, "Soap did you know she owned a dress like that?"
