Embracing the positive turn of events, Mina and Bridgette decided to join the dodgeball game near the fence, where a group of kids were actively participating. The atmosphere shifted from the initial tension to one of camaraderie and shared enjoyment.
Bridgette: Wanna play dodgeball, Mina? It's my favorite game!
Mina: I don't know about that. I'm not so good at that game myself.
Bridgette: We can play on the same team. I'll guard you if someone tries to aim their ball at you.
Mina: Really? I guess I'll give it a try then.
As they approached the game, the other kids were so focused that they didn't notice the two girls joining. Mina, initially unsure about making new friends at her new school, found herself pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and approachability of Bridgette. The tough exterior that had defended her just moments ago now revealed a more amiable and inclusive demeanor. The dodgeball game became an opportunity for them to bond further as they joined the same team, ready to face the challenges of the game together. Kids on both sides dodged and threw balls with enthusiasm, laughter filling the playground. However, as the intensity of the game increased, some of the boys on the opposing team began throwing the balls more aggressively. One of the balls hit Mina hard in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
Mina: She whimpered. Oww...That hurts.
The boys laughed without any remorse at her humiliation while Bridgette's previous contentment shifted to anger. Her protective instincts kicked in as she rushed to Mina's side, who was now on the ground with a scraped knee, feeling the sting of both the physical pain and the humiliation.
Bridgette: That's not funny, you jerks! Why did you hit her so hard in the face?!
Boy #1: Why not, huh? It's called dodgeball for a "reason". What's the big deal?
Boy #2: Towards Mina. Yeah, YOU'RE OUT!
Bridgette: What in the world?! You hurt my friend on purpose! You're not playing it fair!
Boy #1: He said with a smirk. Well, a game is a game. You should stop talking unless you wanna lose too.
Bridgette: Alright, bet. Let's see who will go to early "retirement" this time.
She spotted a small red ball near her feet and picked it up. With determination in her eyes, she grabbed the ball and, channeling all her strength, hurled it with precision. The red ball zoomed through the air, finding its target with an unexpected force. It struck the first boy squarely on the cheeks, knocking him off balance. In a twist of fortune, the boy stumbled and accidentally fell on top of another boy who had just been eliminated from the game and was in the process of sitting down. The sudden turn of events caught everyone by surprise. The playground fell silent for a moment as everyone tried to process what just happened.
Boy #1: Oooh, ahhh. Ahh my buttocks hurt.
All of a sudden, everyone bursted into laughter. The other boys, now on the receiving end of the unexpected retaliation, seemed to reconsider their actions. Bridgette's bold move not only protected Mina but also served as a powerful reminder that bullying and mockery have consequences. When morning recess was over, it was time for kids to go back to class. This time the principal Mrs. Robbins accompanied Mina to her teacher Miss Smith's class as she carried her backpack and lunch bag her parents prepared for her. As they entered the class, the usual buzz of chatter among the students subsided as the principal raised her voice.
Mrs. Robbins: Class, may I have your attention please?
Mrs. Robbins: We have a new student for you to meet. Her name is Mina Blanz. She's going to be joining this class.
