As soon as I stepped out of the airport I could feel the hot air I use to know hit me in the face. I strangely missed it, reminding me of all the memories I made when I lived here. I had my luggage in one hand and my phone in the other, trying to text my parents to see if they were here for me. I was about to call them when I heard my dad's voice through all the noise of people being dropped off, picking up others. "Dad?!" I squealed.
I turned my head and saw my parents standing by his gray Nissan truck he's had since I was 13. Honestly, can't believe that old truck can still run. I quickly ran over to them and jumped into their arms. It's been a while since I've been home, due to work, but I'm so happy to be back.
"We missed you!" My mom said hugging me tightly.
"I missed you guys too!" I stated as I finally let go out of my mom's embrace to be brought into my dads strong arms.
"We missed you kiddo," I love his nickname for me, even though I'm not a child anymore. I'm pretty sure a few gray hairs are coming out. My dad grabbed my suitcase and threw it into the back. "You ready to go home?" he asked.
"Yes, I can't wait!!" I yelled excitedly.
"I made your favorite for dinner!" My mother mentioned as we climbed into the truck.
"Really? Oh, mom you didn't have to but thank you so much!" My stomach began to rubble as soon as my mother mentioned food.
On the way home, I was taking in all the sights that I use to take advantage of while I lived here. Sometimes, I want to move back but I don't know if my job would allow me to work from another state.
"So did you text your friends that you made it home?" My mom asked breaking up my thoughts and gaze from the outside.
"Oh, thank you for reminding me! I forgot to tell them." I rummaged through my purse to pull out my phone and message my friends I arrived home safely.
Me: Hey guys, I made it! My parents picked me up and I'm headed home. I can't wait to see you both tomorrow!
My parents began to ask me about my trip, how work is going and if I missed being here. "Of course I do but I love where I'm at now. Although, there are times I want to come back."
"How long are you here for again?" my dad wondered as I set my phone back into my bag.
"Four days and it's going to be nice. I can't wait to relax from work."
"I bet, and go to your concert?" he glanced at me through the review mirror, making me chuckle.
"Oh yeah, I'm super excited for it!"
"The only reason you're here, "My mom joked.
"No, I'm happy to see you guys." I shook my head knowing my mom is partially right. I am realistically back because me and my friend's favorite K-pop group is preforming in our town. As soon as I saw them release the schedule, we immediately made plans for me to fly back. It was a pain in the ass to get tickets but my friend Madeline was the one to purchase them. But refuses to tell me where we are sitting.
I felt my light pink Samsung watch buzz on wrist, letting me know I received a text message. I turned my wrist over and looked down to see the screen light up, displaying my friend's message.
Madeline: Yay! So happy you made it! Can't wait for the concert with you tomorrow!
Then a couple seconds later Sierra respond too: Yay!! We are still meeting at my place right to get ready and pre-game?
Me: Of course!!
We drove down the familiar streets, knowing I was going to be reunited with my old house in just few seconds. As we turned the corner, my old home appeared in my view, making me a bit emotional. I lived in it for all of my life until I moved out after college and landing the job I have now. It's really great to finally be back.
