lyrics: love in the dark by adele

Clementine hissed in pain while trying to touch her ankle. Katniss had climbed a tree to prove her theories. Finnick suddenly appeared by her. "You okay, princess?"

"I think it's broken." She grimaced. Finnick frowned as he looked at her ankle. "I think you're right." He said, lightly touching the swollen and bruised limb. If it didn't hurt so bad, his touch would have given her shivers.

"It's a dome. We're at the edge of the arena. We couldn't find any signs of fresh water." Katniss told them when she got back on the ground.

"Maybe it's just because my ankle is shot, or maybe because it's getting dark soon - I think we should rest. Finnick and I could take first watch."

"Not a chance." Katniss huffed.

"Honey, that thing I did back there for Peeta? That was called saving his life. If either of us wanted you dead, you'd be dead by now." Finnick told her. Katniss sighed and nodded.

"Fine, but I'm taking first watch."

Clementine thanked Peeta as he helped her lay on the ground. Peeta nodded, giving her a small smile. Finnick looked at Clementine from his spot near Mags, who put her hand on his shoulder, pushing him forwards, towards Clementine. He stumbled a little before regaining his balance.

"Finnick, stop falling for me." Clementine chuckled to herself, closing her eyes.

"You know I can't help myself, princess." He retaliated.

"When are you going to stop calling me that?" Clementine asked, trying to get comfortable on the ground.

"Never."

Katniss watched the two of them bicker back and forth; not able to shake the feeling of actually trusting them.

About an hour later, Clementine awoke to the familiar sound of a parachute heading towards them with a gift. Katniss grabbed it once it hit the ground and opened it.

Clementine eyed the object carefully. She had seen it many times before.

"It's a spile!" She exclaimed.

Katniss ran to the tree and used the back end of her machete to beat it into the tree. The five of them celebrated the fact that they now had fresh water. Finnick brought two leaves filled with water: one for Clementine, and one for Mags.

Clementine had drifted asleep a little while after the canons had gone off for the night. Clementine was in the middle of having a nightmare about President Snow when she heard Katniss scream.

"Run! The fog is poison!"

Clementine stood up, pain coursing through her ankle. She hissed in pain, but kept going, determined to outrun the poison fog. Finnick was carrying Mags on his back, and both Peeta and Katniss were running by themselves.

As the fog touched Clementine's hand, she screamed. She'd never felt a pain like that before. Realizing that she was much slower than the rest, she considered giving up. The fog was quickly approaching, and she couldn't move fast enough.

This is it. She thought to herself. Dropping to the ground, she looked at Finnick, who shook his head. Then, she looked at Mags. Mags dropped from Finnick's back, giving him a kiss on the cheek before turning and heading straight for the fog.

No! No, it was supposed to be me! She cried to herself. Her death will be on my hands

"Mags!" Finnick screamed, running to Clementine. "Mags!" He cried out as the canon sounded. He grabbed Clementine, running as fast as he could away from the fog. "It's my fault!" She cried. The fog kept creeping up on her, causing her to scream. She could tell it was getting to Finnick, too. Along with Katniss and Peeta, Finnick didn't see the edge of the hill, causing all four of them to go flying. Clementine landed next to Peeta, and they both seemed to have decided that they were going to let the fog kill them.

But it didn't.

The fog seemed to hit some sort of invisible barrier. Clementine rested for a moment, feeling the pain of the blisters on her skin. "The water! It helps!" Katniss shouted. Clementine forced herself to move, watching as Katniss and Peeta bathed their blisters in the water. Clementine would focus on herself last. First, she had to make sure Finnick was okay. He seemed to be unconscious. She put her hands under his arms and started pulling him towards the water. She yelled out as she finally dropped him into the cool water.

As she was going to lower herself in the water, she collapsed, overwhelmed with the pain.

"She made sure we were all okay before she helped herself. When she saw that you weren't, she pulled you into the water." Peeta told Finnick. Clementine felt her hair being brushed out of her face. She opened her eyes to see Finnick, looking worried.

"I'm so sorry, Finnick. Mags is dead because of me." Clementine cried, and Finnick shook his head, helping her sit up.

"No, it wasn't your fault. Mags made her choice. She chose to save you." Finnick said sadly. Clementine nodded, feeling tears fall down her face. She still felt guilty.

"I'll get us some water." Peeta said, heading over to a tree. Katniss went to wash off her arrows, leaving Clementine and Finnick to themselves. Well, themselves and the whole world watching.

"I always knew I would find my way into your heart." Finnick smiled, causing Clementine to roll her eyes. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Odair." She said, bumping his shoulder with her own.

"What was it you said in the interviews? That you wanted to explore a relationship with me? Explore away, princess." He winked, causing her to laugh. "In your dreams."

"You're right, I dream about it every night." He told her. Such a charmer. It was true, she did want to explore a relationship. But the timing didn't feel right. With Plutarch planning an uprising - it just wasn't a good idea. Truthfully, living in the world, they did, was it ever a good idea? Clementine looked at him, taking in all of his features. He truly was stunning.

"Guys..." Katniss said, catching their attention. "Move over here slowly."
