Throughout the world, there are many different kinds of creatures. There is the main society of ponies, consisting of unicorns who use magic, pegasus who fly and control the weather, and earth ponies that have the best strength to tend the land. These are the creatures that mostly dominate the world.
However, there are other creatures that are similar, yet distinctly different. There are changelings that can change their appearance at will. Griffons are the most selfish species around. Buffalo stampede through the countryside. Yaks live in the far north to live in the cold. And Hippogriffs who are a combination of ponies and eagles.
There are many other creatures in Equestria. Some of which are more dangerous than others, but there is one species that practically every creature fears because anyone that gets close to one doesn't get such special treatment. These creatures are dragons, beings that breathe fire and fly in giant packs together. They are not the nicest creatures, but if you get along, they are very protective of each other. It is common for a dragon family to stay together until the hatchlings are old enough to be on their own. And even then, they will still be close by because the pack stays together.
However, there are some instances of dragons that leave the pack for a few different reasons. One of the most common being greed. Some dragons get so obsessed with collecting treasure that they collect as much as possible and keep it all to themselves for no real reason.
One dragon who recently became an adult is prepared to go off on his own is getting ready to go off on his own, but he doesn't want to go along like everyone else. He has always wanted to go find his own path, and continuing as a part of the pack just doesn't feel right to him.

The sun rises upon the country of Equestria, and in the mountains, dragons rise from their slumber. Stretching their wings and claws, they yawn with smoke coming from their mouths. All the dragons gather their things preparing to continue their journey through the great migration and find a new home for the next generation.
One family of dragons near the top of the mountain is gathering their things, but the children aren't exactly pulling their weight. The father's name is Thunder Storm. He is one of the Dragon Lord's most trusted generals.

The mother of the family, and Thunder's wife, is Coran Storm. She is often more gentle than other dragons, but if you got on her bad side, she wouldn't hesitate to send you up in flames.
