AK's POV

I found myself analyzing these batteries. They shouldn't be this sweet; just a simple thing to chew on while working.

I took one apart, inspecting the inner workings. Nothing too wrong...Maybe it's just me.

I heard a knock on the door. "Coming!" I quickly swept the batteries off the table and ran to get the door.

It was Amaryllis.

"Lillian Soleil, we have a lot to discuss."

Dang it, she full-named me.

"Amaryllis-"

"Don't interrupt me." My sister glared at me. "Your teacher told me that you've been absent from most of your classes and that your behavior is terrible in especially your supplementary classes." Amaryllis dragged me to the couch so we could sit down. "Is there anything I don't know about?"

"..." I thought for a moment. There was L, that's for sure. "...No," I lied, "There were just...kids making fun of me, is all. I don't like it when they do that, and it's not like I can shoot them or anything." I rolled my eyes.

Luckily, Amaryllis bought it.

"...Fine. I'll talk to your teacher about that soon. By the way-" She pulled out a flyer for something and handed it to me.

"Prom 3071..." I read. "No. Amaryllis, there is no way-"

"Some girl- Lizzy needs you to work lights and sound."

"Wh-why me?!" I shouted. "I'm not the only techy person in the school!" My mind went back to the purple-haired drone with the railgun. "There's- one other drone!"

"Yeah. One." She emphasized. "Look, you need to find a way to increase your status at school to something not bad."

"But why?!" I complained.

"Look, I'm doing this for your sake. I don't want to hear any rumors about you or anything like that. Got it?"

"Fiiiine." I stood up. "I'm going to go to bed."

I heard my sister shout something in my direction, but I didn't hear.

I was too busy with my thoughts, looking for a tape measure.

I should be able to make something with a spare dress that used to belong to my mom. If I cut the sleeves...

L's POV

Slowly, one by one, my optic sensors turned on. I sat up, holding my head in my hands. "Ow..." I looked around and saw a fresh worker drone body to my right. I quickly grabbed it, ripped off its head, and drank the oil inside of it. I felt each of my systems cooling almost immediately, the pain I felt from overheating dissipating.

I sighed, looking around once again. Did someone leave me a worker drone while I was out? It didn't seem unlikely, as there was probably another squad sent here. But at the same time, it didn't seem likely either.

I noticed something scratched into the snow next to where the body was.

"looking out for you, little brother!

ai-chan

ps i miss you"

Ai-chan? I stared at the little note in the snow. I had so many questions.
