ANNE

Walking out the door, the scent of freshly cut grass fills the air. Turning my head my eyes catch mr parker, the middle aged Gardner.

" Hello mr parker" I say waving in his direction. Luckily, his mowing machine wasn't on as he was taking a break in his pickup van.

He raises his head and waves back at me. " Good morning miss miller"

" How's your day going?" I ask, blocking away the setting sun with my hand.

" How it always does, mowing the lawn". He says, sticking his head out of his pickup.

" Alright". I say offering him a small smile. "Do have a nice day mr parker" I say walking down my porch.

"You too miss miller" he calls, sticking his head back into his pickup.

Walking up to the house of my new neighbour, I take two deep breaths and knock lightly on the door. I get no reply, so I decide to knock again.

Just as I was about doing so it opens and the air is filled with an incredibly perfect masculine scent. I'm met with a pair of Prussian blue eyes, a perfectly sculptured jawline with broad shoulders.

He had the kind of face you'd see in front covers of magazines. His hair was damp like he was just out from the shower.

His black T-shirt hugged his body in every way possible. His hair, was already falling out of place like he ruffled it with his hands making him look drop dead gorgeous. He was like perfection wrapped up in one piece.

My eyes go up again to meet his eyes and I feel my breath being taken away for the umpteenth time.

" Hello" I say, giving one of my best smiles.

"Hi" he says not so audibly, but I manage to hear because we are not so far from each other.

"Welcome to the neighborhood" I say, bringing the basket forward.

He reaches for the basket and our hands make contact in the process, making my checks turn red. I jolt at the touch as my body went in a whirlwind of different sensations.

Still staring at me, he says "Thanks" the timbre of his voice deep.

"You're welcome" I reply, felling hot and bothered. "And uhm if you need anything I'm just next door" I add pointing to my house.

And for an unknown reason he smirks. Rethinking what I just said it dawns on me when I realise what he must have taught I meant.

My eyes widen but explaining what I meant was definitely not an option. It would only make me sound weird.

I back out of his porch, make a quick u turn and walk a little faster than normal. I could have sworn I heard him laugh.

As I get to my own house, I could see mr parker was done resting and had gotten back to mowing the lawn.

Poor him, he was trying to make ends meet as his wife was bedridden due to some illness. They also had a twelve year old daughter. The poor man was already really stressed out.

Reaching the door I enter my home to meet Rolly standing at the window that overlooked the rest of the compound.

"Caught!!" I half yell at her, closing the door behind me. " Were you just spying? ".

" No I wasn't" she says, with her hands behind her back.

" Yes you were"

"No I wasn't" she continues.

" You're so creepy rolly" I say walking in.

" Sooo how was it?. Did he smell nice? And what's his name?. I need details young lady" she asks, stopping to breath.

" One day u might just choke on your words" I say to her, going for a glass of water.
She watches me as I drown a whole glass of water, anticipating my next words.

"Well..." I say pausing, earning a raised brow from her. "I may or may have not messed up my words" I finish.

"Oh Annie, what is it this time?" She asks.

" Uhm.. I kinda told him "if you need anything I'm just next door" and he may have gotten it the wrong way" I say feeling a little frustrated.

" Oh my goodness Annie. That was like you literarily saying " If you wanna hook up with me I'm just next door". She says laughing.

" It's not funny" I say, my frustration piling up. Then she stops laughing.

" Don't over think it Annie, it was obviously a mistake" she says, almost erupting into another fit of laughter but holds it in immediately I give get the glare that says don't.

" You haven't answered my own questions. She says "How does he smell like?"

" Like every normal person " I say smiling into my glass of water. I lied. He smelled perfect, better than normal. His smell was still imprinted in my senses; Masculine and strong.

" Someone's blushing" rolly says, poking my sides making me laugh.

" I'm not blushing " I argue still laughing.

" What's his name then ?" She asks. And just then my eyes widen when I realise I hadn't even asked for his name.

" I forgot to ask" I say in one go, thinning me lips.

She opens her mouth to say something but stops abrubtly.

" He likes you already" she says smiling widely.

" Likes who?" I ask feigning ignorance.

"You" she says clearly.

"Me?"

" Yes, you"

" No he doesn't missy" I say back to her.

" Yes he does. I saw how he smiled at you and how he gave you the "I wanna eat you breakfast look" she says wriggling her brows.

" Shut up rolly" I say half smiling.
" You are talking too much these days and it's bad for you" I continue.

"See I was right" she says

" I'm going upstairs, you can continue swimming in your little fantasies " I say walking up to my room

" Wait for me, we're not done talking" she calls behind me, walking hurriedly to meet up with me.

We end up spending the whole day in my room playing games, and talking about the good old highschool days.
