Vivianne

The room fell into a deadly silence as the Emperor slowly stood and moved into the center of the room- closer to me. It always surprised just how much bigger he was than me, but for some strange reason I actually enjoyed the way he towered over me. Making me safe and protected, I wonder what else he could do- and once again I'm thinking of things I should.

I shook my head trying my best to clear away my unholy thoughts, and focus on the present, here and now.

He spread his wings, they were glorious and in this particular light they no longer looked black, rather instead they almost had rainbows hidden within the feathers. Darkness seem to spread out from within his wings, like some sort of smoke encompassing the entire room. I couldn't see anyone else around us, I couldn't see anything for that matter.

"Don't be afraid, I'm still here with you," The Emperor says doing his best to comfort me.

"I'm not afraid," I tell him honestly.

It felt like we were entirely alone even though I knew that without a doubt, there were still hundreds of eyes watching our every move. It was eerie. I've never been afraid of the dark even as a child, I almost welcomed it it never feared me and I.

"Vivianne you don't need to lie to me, I can hear heart and it speaks what you are too afraid to say." His husky voice drips over me, warming me up ever so slightly.

Focus, your life hangs in the balance. You can think about his voice and delusions later. I closed my eyes and opened them rather quickly, looking back at birdman.

"Your Highness,  about this-"

"Call me by my name, I've given it to you to use," He all but growls out clearly not liking how I addressed him.

"Kian." I say, the name flows so eloquently off my tongue, as if I was supposed to be saying it the entire time.

Took a deep breath in and held it, wondering if I truly had the ability that they claimed I did . I was afraid I knew I'd never been in a place that welcomed me like this before. "I've seen your light, now show the others." Kian commanded.

"But how?" I cried out, not wanting to show him how vulnerable I was but not having any more restraint left.

"You just do, and I'm sorry I can't tell you, but light isn't part of my domain."

I closed my eyes, and took in a long, deep breath. Held it then released it, feeling a burning heat rising up my throat then spreading down towards my shoulder and eventually my arms. All the way down to my palms, I slowly opened my eyes and nearly screamed...
My hands looked like fire, glowing flames. This shouldn't be possible, in the world in which I reside humans can't do this!

"Now let it go," Kian said coming up even closer to me.

And just like that, I did.

The room began to light up with different flashes of colors, I could make out Emma's face as she stared up at the lights enchanted just like the rest seemed to be. Once a year the sky was lit up just like this, my father told me they were called fireworks, like looked just like this only far more violent.

Those light was gentle and calm, something I didn't feel much of recently. the deferent colors began to circle each other, slowly growing higher and higher within the room before pushing together and creating a light so bright it had brought tears to my eyes.

"How- how did I just do that?" I mumbled speaking more to myself than to anyone around me.

"Anne that was beautiful! I've never seen anything like that before you simply must show me how you did that!" Sunshine gushed, bringing me back to the present. The noise assailed my ears suddenly and all at once I was aware of the cheers. I hesitantly looked around, intending to find Emma but mine met his instead...

"Your Highness truly and excellent display," The women Wrenly said praising the Emperor.

"What a kiss ass," I heard Emma mutter under her breath, though I'm not sure I was actually supposed to hear her.

"Very well is his Highness pleased?" Sunshine asked drawing the attention of the room once again with his somehow booming voice.
"Hmm, very."  Was all he replied before I was whisked away in a puff of golden sand.

"Sunshine!" Cough, cough. " I can't breathe," Cough, cough.

"Oh my bad, I just really wanted to get out of there," Sunshine apologized and one I was finally able to breathe again and stop coughing up me lungs, I realized we weren't in Sunshine's messy tower but rather my room.

"Why my room?" I ask him.

"I thought you'd feel more comfortable here,"

"Why would you want to make me comfor- What are you up to?" I ask cutting myself off immediately suspicious of him.

"Relax." He deadpanned.

I didn't respond to him only stared back at him, "Okay I got a bad feeling and just wanted to get you out of there as soon as possible, side note while I'm telling you things I shouldn't be, stay away from Wrenly."

"Who?" I ask genuinely confused, Sunshine spoke impossibly fast and with how confused I already was this wasn't helping.

"Bye!" He said then popped away in yet another cloud of golden sand.

The rest of the day went by in a blur, I was barely aware of the fact that Honor was hovering over me even more than usual. Ok, maybe I wasn't that unaware... I just didn't have the energy to deal with him right now, and the only two people I wanted to talk to I couldn't find anywhere, though I doubt they'd even be bale to.

My thoughts were so overwhelming that the only thing I could focus on was my bed, and how soon I would be able to crawl underneath the soft blankets and cloud like mattress and fall blissfully asleep. I really wished I had my mother with me today, maybe she would have some sort of explanation for all of this.

"Oh you beautiful masterpiece! Take me!" I nearly wept with joy as I climbed into bed.

I had only closed my eyes for a brief moment when suddenly I was standing up. I was wearing a stunning silk dress, that hugged my body in all the right places. Something I definitely wasn't wearing when I went to bed.

"Oh I get it now! I'm dreaming!" I nearly shout, surprised by the sudden volume of even my own voice. But even more so by the echo that followed.

It was weird, usually I wasn't this aware in my dreams. An overwhelming feeling of happiness sprung forth and I laughed- like actually laughed. I spun around and something cold and wet licked at my feet. I looked down only to once again be met with the darkness that was still all around me, I kicked out my feet and water (I hope) splashed all around me.

I laughed again and began to spin and play around as If I was once again a small child.

"You have a beautiful laugh," A dark voice spoke and I screamed. The echo once again surprising me, and turned again, and again looking for the source of the dark voice.

"Oh mysterious disembodied voice, tell me your woes and I in turn will tell you mine," I say mimicking the actors I'd once seen as a child, I could barely hold myself together. Giggling and smiling all the while.

"Why do you speak as if you are talking to the ancient ones?" The dark voice questions and I can hear the humor hidden deep within his voice.

"Show me and I will tell you," I laughed once again, apparently finding this dream world quite amusing.

From the darkness Black wings soon emerged and with that the most haunting eyes, "Kian! You nearly gave me a heart attack!" I screamed

"I can hear your heart and other than the increased tempo it is alright." The figment of Kian says, in his usually dark and husky voice.

"You talk funny... You know I thought dream you would talk differently, but I guess not." I gently reached out and touched his chest, and his hardness shocked me.

"Not a dream," I squeaked out. " Definitely not a dream," I said as I dug my nails into his chest.
