The Adeptus Custodes, known as the Legio Custodes or The Golden Legion "Ten Thousand," is responsible for protecting the Imperial Palace, the physical body of the Emperor of Mankind, now known as the God Emperor of Mankind, and his Son Issei, the Champion of Humanity. They are also responsible for serving as His most important emissaries, His companions, and the keepers of His many secrets. The Custodes are an elite cadre of genetically engineered, transhuman warriors even more potent in combat than the Adeptus Astartes. They are to the Space Marines as the Emperor is to His primarchs, and it is said each was created by the Master of Mankind personally. As such, the Adeptus Custodes are widely regarded as the most deadly warriors in the galaxy, human or otherwise.
A single Custodian is worth around 1,000 Space Marines, and a single Space Marine is worth 20 Guardsmen. So a single Custodian is worth around 20,000 Imperial Guardsmen.
Custodians are the pinnacle of humanity, entrusted by the Emperor as his loyal guards and seen by him as true family. Made directly by the Emperor through the use of his own blood and DNA, they are superior to any Astartes. They are also taught from an early age about different subjects from philosophy to language and more. They are more than capable of slaughtering normal humans by the millions without even tiring and can take down thousands upon thousands of Astartes. If they ever were to rebel, the custodians would be the ones to put them down. They can easily take down supernatural beings, even those in the ultimate class, with their speed, strength, and durability. They are a force to be reckoned with not only for mankind's enemies but also for those who decide to betray humanity, especially supernatural beings that dare to oppose the Emperor's will and are met with the Golden Legion's wrath.

The Guardian Spear has been the signature weapon of the Adeptus Custodes since its creation by the Emperor. It is an elegant and deadly design, incorporating a Power Blade and a highly advanced integrated bolter weapon. In the hands of a Custodian Guard, it can strike and parry at blinding speed, despite its size. More rarely, these weapons mount not bolters but advanced, specialized sub-weapons such as compact Meltas or even Adrathic Disintegration Beamers, issued against the deadliest of foes. It's only given out to the elite guards of the emperor, forcing the Imperium not to allow anyone else to wield this weapon.
