Chapter 2: I Need Your Help

The next day passed, Sonic woke up and he saw that Shadow was sleeping in a sitting position next to him.

"What happened to him?" Sonic asked as he stood up.

"He was trying to help you. But you don't need his help." A quiet voice echoed in Sonic's mind.

"Ruby?" Sonic asked.

"Yes, I'm here. Now, let's leave him. Go out and run through the forest." Ruby said.

Sonic agreed, running out towards the forest. When Shadow woke up, Sonic was gone... again. He saw the blue blur running around the forest and Shadow decided to go talk to him.

"Are you trying to disappear from me on purpose?" Shadow asked, he sounded like a serious adult that was trying to take care of their child.

"No, relax Shadow! I just got lost, and look, you found me." Sonic said, super causally. It was different, like he was lying to him. But Sonic's a terrible liar, why is he acting so different?

Shadow was trying to figure this out by himself but, he needed help... even though he didn't want to talk to...him.

"Nine, I need your help." Shadow said, he hated that he actually just said that. He did everything on his own, and he didn't trust a traitor. But, he didn't have a choice.

He needed someone who was really smart so he could find out what happened to the blue hedgehog.

"Sonic's-" Shadow said before he got cut off by the fox.

"Really annoying? Yeah, I knew that." Nine said to Shadow.

"No, that's not what I meant!" Shadow replied.

"He's not himself! He's... different..." Shadow continued.

"Not himself, huh? What did you do to make him so upset?" Nine responded.

"I.. I don't know. That's why I came here, I need to know why he's acting super strange." Shadow said.

"Well unfortunately, I have everything you need. So, I guess I'm helping you. I know we hate each other, let's get this over with." Nine said as he got off of his desk chair.

"Hey Shadow." Sonic said suspiciously.

"Hello... Sonic." Shadow responded.

The two hedgehogs fought each other. Shadow was trying to get a sample of Sonic's quills so Nine could scan it and find the problem.

"Stay still!" Shadow yelled as he was trying to pull out a quill.

"You're too slow. You need to speed up, bro." Sonic said with hatred.

The two fought for hours, finally it stopped. Shadow had to punch Sonic 60 times until he was knocked out.

Somehow, Sonic was stronger. Somehow, Sonic was angrier at Shadow.

A portal opened, Nine turned around, Shadow threw Sonic on the ground. He finally did it, he got Sonic in the lab.

Shadow was really tired now. He slowly walked over to a pile of pillows and fell on top of them.

"So, it worked? You actually brought him here?!" Nine said, surprised that Shadow listened to him.

"I'm not Sonic, I actually listen." Shadow said from the pile of pillows.

"Well, if we are a team, you should rest. I'll take care of Blue." Nine said, he decided to call Sonic "Blue" instead of his actual name because he didn't trust Sonic at all.

He needed to call his enemy something else so it didn't sound like he was still friends with him.

Shadow chuckled at the new nickname that was for Sonic, he knew Sonic would correct Nine if he was awake. Well, if he was normal.

"Blue... It feels right to call him that." Shadow said before he passed out from exhaustion.

Nine heard what the black hedgehog said, he was starting to warm up to him.

"I think you're better than Sonic, we can actually agree on things." Nine said as he put a blanket over Shadow.
