Mike's POV:
As I walked into the living room, I heard cartoons playing while Abby was sitting, drawing on a sheet of paper again.
Yeah, you heard me. AGAIN. She's been more socially isolated when hanging out with her imaginary friends, but she didn't care.
But I do. I want her to have a good life while she's a child, cuz life's more difficult for me. Her nature is becoming a big deal with her aunt, Jane, who wants to take her away. Not for her safety, just to get her payment and her public image. This annoys everyone, including Abby and her teacher.
I can't stand this shit, including her friends. She's even been nasty to me recently.
Me: Hey, Abs, what are you doing?
No response. She's too focused. As always.
Me: Alright. I guess you don't want this then, it's cool, huh?
I tried showing her something she liked before, maybe her favorite cereal?
Abby: *softly* Okay...
OH COME ON! How's she not amused?!
Me: I'm trying my best, Abby, okay?
Suddenly, I heard some objects clatter. I didn't make them.
TV: Can't you read?
Oh, shut the hell up.
Me: You okay?
Abby: I made a mess.
Maybe it's her sketch papers. I walk in and-
oh shit.
She's holding the trial papers.
Abby: I'm sorry. They're... they're just papers, right?
I immediately take away the papers from her hand.
Me: They-they don't mean anything.
Abby: Then why do you have them?
How can I explain this to her?
Me: Well, that's complicated. You see, Aunt Jane...
Abby: I hate her. SHE'S MEAN, AND SHE SMELLS LIKE CIGARETTES!
Wasn't the first time she said that. I chuckled a bit.
Abby: It's not funny!
She pouted, but I resisted laughing again.
Me: You're right, it's not, it's just, uh...
Before I can make an excuse, I heard aggressive knocking on the door. The person even tried to open it by shaking the doorknob.
Concerned, I opened it. I was about to shout "What do you want?!", when I saw... Max?!
Me: Max? It's early. What are you-?
However, Max looked SO frightened that she shoved me aside and ran inside.
Me: Hey! *closes door* What's the matter with you?
Max shivered. Abby stared at her.
Max: I don't have time to explain. I just need to have a quick chat with Abby. Are you available, dear?
Abby: Yeah?
Max: Can we-?
Suddenly, there was another knock at the door. Not aggressive like Max, just a simple, normal knock a regular person would give.
