CHAPTER 5

"Lola, did kyle hit you?" Caleb asked me clearly infuriated. "No" I

laughed nervously trying to avoid his burning stare. "I fell down the

stairs" I lied. He was Caleb, my childhood best friend he could obviously

see past my lies. "Don't lie to me godammit , you know out of all the

options that was a really terrible, and most common lie" he said angrily.

My face heated up "Lola I'm asking you again, did Kyle hit you?" He

asked slowly for it to sink in. I wanted to explain, to defend Kyle that he

has anger issues and is working on it but instead I ended up breaking

down as my voice became choked up. "I'm gonna kill that bastard" he

muttered under his breath " no no no Caleb please let it be" I begged "he
mustn't even know I told you please" I panicked and began to cry.

Caleb's eyes which were very hard with intense infuriation softened

towards me as he came over to sit by my side and hold me. "It's okay Lo"

Lo is the shortened version of my name which Caleb liked to call me "we

will pull through this" he assured me "I can't allow you stay one

more second with a coward that hits you, no i won't have it". We? I thought to myself, Caleb is

there for me and I'm really happy we're back together, he has always

been my everything, my shoulder to cry on. I always thought I was on

all these alone but now he's back, I think I'm going to be smiling some

more. My best friend was back.

"But Caleb i can't just up and leave, i understand but i still love

him and i want him to change" i said "do you want the bastard to
fucking kill you" he half screamed "Caleb" i warned. He just

looked at me with amazement and said "fine but one more time

and i swear I'll kill him"

For the rest of the time, we just sat there. Caleb held me in his arms

while I rested on his chest. He comforted me while I cried all my trauma

to him then we just talked. Kyle usually comes back from work at 7pm.

Well he is the CEO so he can come back anytime but his dedication to his

work makes him stay there to manage and monitor everything till the

close of work. "I have to go now Caleb" I said into his chest. It was
already 5 pm and I had already stopped crying by then, I leaned up. "OK

babe, so we'll see tomorrow then" he asked with expectation in his eyes.

"Sure Caleb we are back to bring inseparable best friends once again

aren't we?" I asked cheerfully. "Yes Lola, I'm so happy to have you back"

he smiled. He walked me to my car, "Lo" he called "ya?" I answered, "if

anything happens, I mean anything at all don't hesitate to call me, do

you hear me?" He stared at me intensely. After a while I said "yes Caleb,

I'll try" "don't try Lola call me" he said this time not making room for any
