The weekend passed quickly, luckily with minimum criticism from my mother about my appearance at dinner each night and with a few catch-ups with my father and younger brother.

By Monday, I was hurrying into my building with my bags in hand, scurrying up the stairs to reach my room and tell Becky all the details of my weekend. Once I was outside the door, I dropped my bags and fumbled with the key until I heard the click of the lock and the door open. Picking up my bags I walked in and kicked the door closed behind me before throwing them onto my bed and pulling my sleeves down my arms.

"Mel...you're back early" I heard Becky gasp as I turned around, rolling my eyes.

"Only by a few-" my own gasp stopped me in my tracks "-oh shit" I said, taking in the sight in front of me.

Becky was lying on her side facing me, her long brown hair draping over her bare shoulders as she held the blanket up to her chest. Her eyes were wide with surprise and panic as they shifted between me and the other body lying next to her. He had naturally tanned skin on his back, I couldn't see his face as he was turned to face Becky but his jet black hair stood up in all directions in his sleeping state. Small snores could be heard from him as his arm hooked around Becky's waist whilst she continued on looking at me, finding the right explanation.

"Is that-" I began, pointing a finger to him.

"Yes it's a boy, so what? I thought you were coming back for class and I wouldn't see you until lunch or something" She said, shrugging her shoulders as if it were no big deal at all.

"I decided to come a bit earlier instead of the usual 9am so I could get a bit more organized" I stated, not looking at her as I examined the boy who was oblivious to me being present in the room.

"At 6:30?" she raised her eyebrows at me as if I were crazy. I probably am.

"I just wanted to be prepared for classes today" I said, looking down at the floor.

"Fair enough" she said quietly.

We were both lost for words. She, because her best friend had walked in on her with one of the consequences of last night. I, because I found my best friend lying down naked with some random guy I'd never seen before.

"Do you uhm..." I began, looking at the wall behind her and speaking slowly to avoid any awkward silences in the already quiet room "do you want me to go until class or something?"

"No that's alright" she shook her head, but I knew she was only saying this because she felt bad kicking me out when I had just come back.

"Honestly I don't mind. I'm not sure I want to be here when he wakes up and gets out of bed before realising I'm here too" I half laugh to myself

"You would if you saw the size of-"

"Ew, gross, too much information" I squealed, covering my ears and scrunching up my nose to indicate to her that I really did not want to know what she intended on saying next.

"I'm kidding" she laughed softly to keep him from stirring in his sleep.

"I'll leave you to it then" I shook my head and picked up my jacket, putting it on once more.

"You sure? Where will you go?" She asks as I turn around and flip my collar over.

"Not Sure, probably to get a quick coffee or something"

"I'm not sure a lot of places are open this time" she says, biting down on her lip to stop herself from smiling.

"Then I'll go on a walk" I say smugly and walk out the door, closing it behind me before she can say anything else.
