rue woke up with a fright. she was used to the nightmares, and at least she woke up on time.

as she got out of bed with a yawn, her german shepherd brownie pawed at her feet.

"boy chill out, im getting you food." she spoke quietly.

she wore an oversized mens t-shirt and a pair of cycling shorts. LA was hot, not as hot as afghanistan but still hot.

she fed brownie and got ready for the day.

as she slicked her hair back into a neat bun, a text came through her phone.

from: tim :)

Hurry up I've been out here for 10 minutes.

she let out a sigh and threw a pair of sneakers on, an apple shoved in her mouth as she did it.

she made her way out of her house and laid eyes on tim and his car.

jumping into the passenger seat with an apple stuffed in her mouth definitely wasn't her most attractive look, but tim thought she looked gorgeous regardless.

"you drove all the way here without music? what is wrong with you?" she spoke, taking personal offence to the horrific crime of a silent car ride.

"just connect your phone girl, you know that you have good music taste" he spoke jokingly.

"I know you're kidding but I'm still going to do it" she said, starting to play childish gambino through the speakers.

well everyone loves childish gambino.

"When it's all over, no settling down. My texts go to your screen you know better than that!" Rue sang, well screamed out.

"I come around when you least expect me. I'm sitting at the bar and your glass is empty." Tim sings along as he pulls into a parking spot.

"Its rookie day!" Rue shouts out of nowhere.

"Yeah!" Tim returns the enthusiasm, even though he hates rookie day.

"Come on, it'll be a good day." Rue states, grabbing her bag and getting out of the car.

"It will." He sighed out as they both walked to their respective changing rooms.

Rue was dressed in her short sleeve blues, gun and belt on, choking her hips.

She walked out, running straight into angela and tara.

"You tryna be late girl?" Angela asked her with a grin.

"I was late anyway, tim was waiting for 10 minutes outside with no music. Can you believe that? No music!" She spoke, making the two laugh as they sat down for roll call.

Rue sat in between angela and tim, waiting for gray to get to it.

She eyed the new rookies, an Asian girl, black boy, a white boy and a white middle aged man.

She thought that was weird.

She knew she was late joining the police force when she was 23 but this man was at least 35.

"Settle down" gray spoke "okay we got some new blood this morning. And some, pushing their expiration date." He said, making everyone laugh.

"Get up." He said to the 4 rookies, making them stand immediately.

"After 6 months together in the academy, you've earned the right to be here, but you'll have to prove yourself to stay."

"The way we do things matters, protocol and tradition is the metal that every cop in this city is for understand?" Gray said, making each rookie nod their head.
