As I finished up the grilled cheese, I plated it and paired it with a bowl of tomato soup. "Dinner Jess!" I yelled up the stairs. I put the pan in the sink and turned the water on. Then I put in all the utensils I used and started scrubbing everything with soap. It didn't take long to do. I rinsed them and turned the water off. As I was about to sit down, my phone started to ring. I looked at it to see who it was. Mike was calling. I picked up the phone and pressed answer.
As I brought the phone up to my ear I heard a dog barking in the background. "Hey, Mike!" I said happily. "Hey, Chelsea! How are you?" Mike asked. "I'm not the best. Sarah meant a lot to me." I admitted. "I'm sorry about that. Must be hard on you." Mike said. I smiled. "It's okay. Things happen." "Well if you're up to it, would you be willing to go to Cheesecake Factory with me on Friday?" He asked. I thought for a second. Cheesecake Factory sounded nice. "Sure!" I said.
"Great. I'll pick you up at 8 on Friday." Mike said. I smiled even more. "Sounds great!" I said. Mike chuckled. "See you, Chelsea." "Bye Mike." I hung up the phone smiling. As I grabbed my food and brought it to the table, I saw Jess standing there. She had heard everything. "Oh, hi Jess." She just nodded and sat down. This was going to be a long night.
