Thinking fast is essential in a zombie apocalypse. The need to adapt and change direction in a matter of seconds to avoid the undead and unexpected obstacles is crucial, especially if they are chasing you.
Mental agility is not only useful for dodging dangers but also allows you to survive and adapt to unforeseen situations. Being able to adjust to a sudden mountain descent in seconds can make a difference when facing a horde of zombies. Move quickly, but above all, think even faster.
In the middle of the night, at three in the morning, Maxine and Jade were engaged in a heated argument outside the house. The blonde didn't want more members in the group. She knew that the task of evading zombies would become more complicated if more people joined. Why form a group? In the end, they would end up developing mutual affection, something discouraged in a situation like the one they had been living for years. How ironic, Jade thought, recalling her thoughts before meeting Amelia when her sole focus was finding her parents. Now, only her mother was missing, a figure that had not crossed her mind until this moment.
"What's wrong with you?" the blonde questions, frowning. "It seems like you saw something."
"Huh?" Jade returns to reality.
"You're weird... I don't like you..."
"If I got a dollar every time someone in the group told me this, I'd be a millionaire," she mutters sarcastically to herself.
"Think fast," Maxine warns.
"Why?"
Not even a second passed when a pistol hit her on the head.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Nothing. Be thankful I put the safety on."
Jade just picked up the gun as Maxine headed towards the house.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll be right back; wait for me here," she verbalizes, entering the house completely and closing the door behind her.
"I doubt she'll be back," she says to herself.
Two minutes. That was the time Jade had to wait outside. Animal and insect noises could be heard. The stars were clearly visible in the sky. It could be said that, if it weren't for the fact that they were in a zombie apocalypse, it would be a good view of a camp.
"Ready, let's go," she comes out of the house.
"To... where?" Jade questions.
"I'm going to leave you in the middle of the forest..." the blonde speaks after opening the gate that served as a fence.
Jade stares at her with a certain fear.
"I'm going to teach you to be fast so that you don't put us in danger."
"Do I have to take Chester?"
"You run like a grandma. Chester is faster than you, and I'm sure even some grandma is too," Maxine mocks.
...
The two teenagers walked through the forest.
"I think I'm starting to feel something, how do I stop it?"
"What do you mean?" Maxine asks.
"I get nervous, and my stomach churns when I'm with Amelia... Is that normal?"
Maxine stops upon hearing that response. Did Jade have feelings for Amelia?
"Do you like Amelia?" she asks.
