We got away with it.

It was sloppy, but we did.

Now we have recovery. A long road to recovery.

I suffered nerve damage in my shoulder, I have mass difficulty raising my arm, and in my forearm, I have a problem clenching my fist.

My leg and arm injuries are on opposite sides, I shot my calf on my right side, and my arm on my left, so I have an easier job walking with my forearm crutches.

It's been a week, a week in the hospital, a week without seeing Max.

They won't tell me anything.

I don't know how she is, or if she's even alive.

"One strawberry cone, with sprinkles and a cherry on top."

Max's favorite.

Will sets a small bag of snacks down on the visitor bed, where my dad has been sleeping, and hands me my cone.

"Thanks, Will," I grab the charry off the top and eat it before grabbing my cone and taking a lick.

"No problem, Dustin should be here soon," Will flashes me a smile and sits in the visitor chair, laying back and letting out a sigh.

"Have you heard anything about Max yet?" Will turns to me and shakes his head slowly, rubbing his face with the palm of his hand.

"No, I haven't, Hopper refuses to let any of the doctors speak. And he must be paying them or something. I couldn't get a nurse to talk for 50 bucks."

"Well, show me what you got."

Will stands up and grabs the bag of snacks before scooting the chair closer, a faint smile on his face.

"I got you..." Will dumps the bag out and picks up the first bag, "Pretzels, Coca-Cola, Lucky Charms, Eggos, a can of whipped cream, some candy, and chocolate syrup."

Where the hell am I gonna cook Eggos?

"So-"

"And I brought a toaster."

Will smiles at my confused face, as Dustin walks in holding a toaster over his head. "I  brought a toaster."

Dustin places the toaster on the counter that's meant for doctors' use, but I don't require that much attention. Usually, it's just checking my IV and making sure I'm physically stable.

Mentally, No. Not one bit.

"Thank you, Dustin."

How does a murderer become friends with the sweetest boys she'll ever know?

Dustin fixes his hat and looks at the snacks on my bed.

"Can I-"

"No."

"C'mon Will, one piece won't hurt."

"You have a job, buy your own candy not steal from the crippled girl."

Im not crippled.

Will puts all the snacks back in the bag, putting the eggos in the mini-fridge my dad brought for whatever reason. Also putting some of the coke in the fridge.

"Dustin stop trying to unplug Jane's life support."

"Okay, Dustin listen to Will and take a bag of Janes candy," My dad sits down on his visitor bed and starts taking his boots up.

"Hey! Thats my-"

"Jane, share," Hopper raises his eyebrows and tosses his boot on the ground.

I huff and lean back in my bed, attempting to cross my arms, but being stopped by a sharp pain in my shoulder, wincing and laying my arm back down on its pillow only being mere centimeters above it.

Dustin grabs the Three Musketeers from the bag and pops it open, taking a piece of candy, and munching on it as I lick my ice cream.

Hopper stands up and ruffles Will's hair, he cut it a few days after I was admitted to the hospital. I hadn't woken up yet, I've only been awake 3 days, and from what I've heard, my body was in shock and I was exhausted so once my adrenaline ran out in the ambulance I was out.

"Alright boys, it's late, let me give you a ride home," Dustin stands up, putting the candy back in the bag and after Will, hugging me. "I'll be back soon, Jane."

My dad walks out after Will and Dustin, leaving the door cracked 3 inches.

Habit I guess.

"Now what?" I groan and chomp on my waffle cone, enjoying the mix of cone and ice cream.

"Code blue! Room 202 patient is crashing!" One of the nurses runs down the hall, a few seconds later, followed by a course of doctors and more nurses with some machine.

202? I'm in 201, so someone is dying in the room right next to me and I can't even watch it.

Fucker.

"I can't fucking miss it goddamnit," I mutter, yanking my IV out and my heart rate monitors off my chest, I turn my body so my legs are dangling off

"What the hell happened?!"

Neil?

I grab my crutch and steady myself before quickly making my way to the door, walking out, and seeing Neil and Susan outside-

Room 202.

No.

No no no.

Before I can start moving I feel a hand on my bad arm, causing me to flinch and grab the hand, squeezing hard.

"Hey hey! Shit Hopper. I didn't know you had a killer grip," Steve takes his hand away when I loosen it and runs it through his precious hair.

"Sorry, just-"

"On edge, I get it Jane, It's completely alright."

See, there are reasons why Steve Harrington isn't on Max and I's kill list.

And Robin, along with Nancy, Will, and Dustin.

Complete opposite of, Shelia, Angela, and Neil.

Maybe Susan.

"So...We-We heard Will and Dustin just left so-"

Robin scoffs, "Harrington decided to talk the exit for Henderson to leave because he can't accept Henderson is in his Eddie Munson phase,"

"I am not!" Steve puts one hand on his hip and uses the other to talk, a typical motherly stance for him. Robin stares at Steve a moment before he sighs and rolls his eyes, "Okay maybe... I'm upset. But he'll come around. Eddies a fre- Hey!"

"What did I say? Don't insult him because he's taking your Dustypoo," Robin wacks him with a magazine and shakes her head, "Be a better mother figure Harrington."

Robin and Steve start arguing- or I'd say bickering about Steve being a mother figure, so I make my way to an angle that allows me to see in the window of room 202.

I move my head to look around Susan's head and I freeze. Almost dropped my crutch and collapsed right there.

Is she dead?

"Jane?" Steve walked up behind me and froze when he looked where I was looking, "Oh Jesus," He grabbed my good arm to help hold me up.

"She's steady, but we don't know if she'll crash again. We still have her in a medically induced coma so she heals properly, we'll take her for an MRI to see if she has any brain swelling."
