[A/N: again, this book will probably take a little less time than Seven Wonders before it's on hold. and I am still thinking about making a Transformers Prime story with Clara as well. I grew up watching that show, animated, and the original Gen 1 stuff, I rewatched it recently and I still love it. rewatching it actually led to me going and watching transformers earthspark, which I really liked too. Yes, yes, some people find it cringy (some people stupidly bitched about a nonbinary character). that's because it's geared towards KIDS of Gen Alpha and the still very young later portion of Gen Z. Regardless of that, the story, character development, and villain for the first season were really well done. And I'm the person who enjoyed robots in disguise and rescue bots when a decent amount of people didn't, I genuinely don't care if someone doesn't like any of the animated Transformers TV shows I mentioned. I've just had people recently for some reason get so mad about me liking them which is???? anyway earthspark was also the first time I've watched something Transformers in a while where Peter Cullen was not voicing Optimus, but Alan Tudyk is fantastic and I quite love him as Optimus too.]
A big smile was on Charlie's face as the girls headed out to Hank's junkyard. She was glad this idea brought Charlie some joy and it would give them something else to do together, to have as a memory, before she left. The two girls thankfully were able to leave the house without a problem, no comments or anything from Sally or Ron on the way out and Ron was going to take care of getting Otis where he needed to get to after his interview. So, Charlie was also in a better mood because of that. Clara was calm when she and Charlie arrived at the junkyard, but the latter strode up to the counter and Hank with determination, with one goal on her mind. That Volkswagen Beetle. "I want the Beetle." Charlie declared without hesitation, Clara raising a brow but saying nothing.
"What?" Hank frowned confused.
"The yellow Beetle, I want it." She repeated herself, not letting Hank get another word in before she continued. "I'll make you a deal. If I get that thing started, it's mine." Charlie offered and Hank stared at her for a moment before his gaze flickered to Clara who shrugged.
"That's no deal. That's just you taking my car." the old man told her.
"No one else is going to come in here and buy it. You're clearly not making any money off of it." Clara bluntly stated and Hank raised a brow while Charlie cut in.
"If I get it started, I keep it and I work here every day for a year! Teddy will help!" Charlie tried to bargain, Clara glancing at her friend when she mentioned her but said nothing. "I'll scrub the grease off the floors, okay? I will pick up and organize every scrap of paper in this place. I'll even detail your horrible, disgusting toilets." She ranted desperately, she really wanted this badly. Clara looked at her friend before moving her gaze to Hank beggingly.
"Please, she really needs this." Clara mouthed beggingly to the older man who sucked in a sharp breath.
"Please. It's my birthday." Charlie pleaded, but Hank shook his head.
"Sorry, no deal." Hank refused, Charlie and Clara's faces falling. "Cause we ain't hiring." He told them, Charlie exhaling in disappointment while Clara narrowed her eyes. He wasn't saying no to the car, he was saying yes. "It's yours, kid. Happy birthday." Hank smiled and Charlie gasped in disbelief but smiled.
"Thank you."
"I'm surprised you agreed, honestly." Clara blurted out and Hank rolled his eyes at her. Clara grabbed Charlie's hand and the two girls walked away, Charlie thanking Hank profusely.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"And my toilets are gorgeous," Hank called after them offended.
"No, they're not!" Clara casually called back, the older man opting to ignore her as he watched them run off. The girls made quick work of grabbing their tools and headed for the yellow Beetle. "This'll be a long one for sure." She commented offhand and Charlie glanced over at her.
