[A/N: and here we are on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. I really enjoyed and loved this film so much, I really love the paths they took with the characters in this movie, it's number two under Bumblebee. Plus we get Mirage and we get more Optimus. Always appreciate that. Anyway, I bid you a welcome to the next part of this Clara's story.]
[Title: Songbird - Fleetwood Mac.]
Brooklyn, New York, 1993.
Tap, tap, tap, tap. The repeated sound of Clara's red and blue shoes on the tiled floor of the hospital waiting room. 1988, they thought they'd help Rose enough that she and Clara could breathe, but three months ago things changed. Today, she was here after she brought her mother in two days ago for her surgery. The girl winced as she picked and bit on her nail, nothing good would come of that, but there were a few of the things keeping her sane and focused while she waited with anxiety. Things hadn't calmed in the years since Bumblebee left and she moved away to Brooklyn. Clara never stopped having those dreams, even after she graduated college when she was twenty. Joining the military to pay for medical school definitely didn't distract her from these dreams, they still lingered.
Cybertron, that looming being with dark eyes, and this spherical object she always saw in her dreams. She didn't understand it in the slightest. It didn't deter her from moving on, and continuing her time as a medic in the army. That only lasted two years before she was honorably discharged after being attacked by a patient, that didn't matter since her stint was only contracted to last three years. So, last year was the last she saw of the army and then she entered medical school. She was coming up on her second year. "Excuse me." a gentle voice called out lowly to the dark-haired woman. The words echoed in her ears and she didn't register someone was speaking to her. "Hey, excuse me. Are you okay?" a hand shook her shoulder lightly and Clara snapped out of it. Her head jerked to the right where she saw the concerned face of a guy around her age with olive skin and dark curly hair.
"I'm sorry, what?" Clara blinked confused.
"I uh...asked if you were okay?" the man asks her and she clears her throat awkwardly, not expecting some strange to come up to her. "I'm sorry, I know I'm a stranger but you looked...you looked like you need someone to ask." He swallows hard and Clara's eyes flicker to the floor for a moment.
"I'm fine, just waiting." Clara answered shortly and the man went quiet, but he didn't say anything. Even though he knew she was lying to just get this stranger to stop talking.
"I'm Noah, Noah Diaz." He introduced himself and held out a hand for her. Clara stared at his hand for a moment before she moved her gaze to his face. "Sorry, I just uh...I know the look of someone here waiting for the potential of bad news." Noah told her and Clara rolled her bottom lip and then raised her hand, gripping Noah's and shaking it.
"Clara Grey, but um...everyone calls me Teddy."
"Teddy?" Noah raises an amused brow and she sighs.
"Short story, my middle name is Theodora which is where everyone gets it from," Clara explained blandly and Noah let out a light chuckle at her tone.
"Who is it you're waiting for?" Noah asks lowly and Clara presses her lips together in a thin line. She wasn't jumping at the opportunity to tell a stranger she just met who she was in the hospital waiting room for. Even if her mother's doctor encouraged her to go to groups and meet people who understand so when you talk they get it. "Little brother? Sister? Mom? My little brother's in here for the doctor, back there with my mom and them." He tells her and she pauses at that.
"Your mom?" She raises a brow and Noah nods, he sees something flicker in her eyes at the mention of his mom and it clicks. "What's he got? Your little brother?" Clara quietly speaks and Noah takes a deep breath.
