CHAPTER THIRTY THREE
- Narcissism -

Cheshire and Zoro returned well into nightfall. The smell of Sanji's incredible cooking was prominent amongst the tangerine grove and only got stronger as they approached, leaving the blonde girl drooling.

"Cheshire! There you are!" Sanji exclaimed in enjoyment. The others had only just began to eat, Luffy and Usopp's meals seeming a little less appetising then what Nojiko had and the plate Sanji swiftly pushed into her arms. "Here, please enjoy, I made sure to make it to your liking."

"Sanji, I can't eat this here..." Cheshire said with disappointment, moving to push the plate back into his grasp but Sanji refused.

"Please, I made it specifically for you. Enjoy, don't worry about them, you are gorgeous with or without the mask."

Cheshire eyes passed over the room as she held the plate of food close to her chest. Her feet dragged her to the end of the table, pulling a side drawer with her and sitting near where Luffy had already demolished his dinner. With her back to the group, she hesitantly pulled one side of the mask off, still holding it as a shield to prying eyes as she placed a spoonful of noodles in her mouth. The taste left her moaning quietly in delight.

"Don't worry about her!" Luffy had suddenly exclaimed, making Cheshire flinch whilst Zoro and Usopp stared at their captain in confusion. The boy's eyes fell on Nojiko, a smile pulling at his lips whilst he halfheartedly patted Cheshire's shoulder. "This is just how she has to eat, it's not out of rudeness."

"Ah, huh..." the dark skinned girl had finished the bowl of food in under a minute, sighing softly as she glanced back at the cook. "You know, this is the best thing I've eaten in my entire life."

A blush danced over Sanji's cheeks. "Listen. There's plenty more where that came from, but... first we really need to know about Nami."

Cheshire tried to hurry through the noodles, ignoring the pain in her broken grin. It felt wrong and incredibly to keep her back to Nojiko whilst she explained her story to the group, no matter how much Luffy assured her it wasn't.

Her eyes ached with tears as Nojiko explained her story, going in-depth on how Arlong had invaded their small village and made people pay to live in Coco Village. The lump in Cheshire's throat worsened as Nojiko told them how her's and Nami's adopted mother had sacrificed herself to let the girls live, shot through the head by Arlong directly in front of them. And yet, after all that, Nami was working with those same pirates... something wasn't adding up.

Cheshire hastily wiped her tear filled eyes as Nojiko concluded her story with a shaky breath.

"Wait. Nami's working for the pirates that killed your mother?" Usopp clarified softly, earning a small nod from Nojiko.
