{07: the awkward conversation and the break-in.}

The car ride to Scott's house felt tense, the air thick with unspoken words. Stiles focused on the road, his mind swirling with questions about the unexpected moment he and Aurora shared earlier. He stole glances at her, noticing her thoughtful expression as she stared out of the window, lost in her own thoughts.

The silence became unbearable for Stiles, who couldn't shake off the lingering curiosity about their interaction. Finally, unable to contain himself any longer, he cleared his throat and broke the tense quietness.

"About earlier...," Stiles started, his voice hesitant, "I just wanted to know... has that happened before?"
"No," Aurora replied simply causing Stiles to slightly scoff, unimpressed with her response.

"I mean, come on Rory, what was that? And don't tell me you aren't the least bit curious, because I know you are -" Stiles began to ramble causing Aurora to turn to him, her expression unreadable for a moment before she sighed softly. "I don't know, Stiles. I really don't. Maybe it just means... I care about you? or that I feel comfortable around you?"

Stiles seemed eager to explore the topic further, his mind already jumping to the information he had read about werewolves and their connections. But Aurora, sensing his direction, quickly redirected the conversation.

"Look, Stiles," Aurora interrupted "we've got more pressing things to deal with right now. Let's just focus on that, okay?"

Stiles' enthusiasm waned slightly, a flicker of hurt crossing his features at her dismissal. Aurora immediately regretted her quick response, recognizing the pang of guilt in her chest.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you," Aurora apologized, her tone apologetic. "Let's talk about something else."

Stiles nodded understandingly, though the curiosity in his eyes still lingered. He switched gears immediately, eager to redirect their attention.

"Yeah, you're right. Scott's probably waiting for us to fill him in," Stiles said, his voice returning to its usual upbeat tone. "The whole situation with the bus driver attacking someone is seriously messed up. It doesn't add up. We need to figure out what's going on."

Aurora sighed with relief at the change of topic, grateful for the shift away from the tension that had built between them. She nodded in agreement, grateful for the chance to focus on something other than their own complicated emotions.

As they arrived at Scott's house, both Stiles and Aurora pushed their earlier conversation to the back of their minds, their attention now fully on the looming mystery they needed to unravel.

The two then made their way to the side of the house, where they knew Scott's bedroom window was always left slightly ajar for such occasions. The night air was cool, carrying a sense of urgency as they approached the familiar window.
