It had been several days since Chanel seen her father outside of Black Ice. She had told Klay about it when he had returned home from his away game the following day. Since then he didn't want her going anywhere alone including work, the studio, even to the gas station. The fact that he was starting to randomly show up was unsettling because neither of them knew what intentions could be.
That being said Chanel had been extremely stressed with the entire situation, especially with having to keep it away from both of her sisters. On top of it all, her and Tah'Jae were still going through a riff.
So Klay decided to plan a day date to get her mind off of everything, even if it was just that day. Earlier in the morning he had took her out for breakfast at a well known spot in the city and now he was currently taking her a boat ride. He had never brought Chanel along on his usual rides before, so he figured she may enjoy it. It wasn't something too extra, but chill and calm which is what she needed at the moment.
