"Did you know they could be this small?"

"I did exactly."

"Isn't it incredible?"

"It's quite incredible," She smiled to herself, nesting deeper under his arm. "You know there are old wife's tales that if you look away too fast, they'll get even smaller."

"Really?" Sebastian laughed, "How much smaller could they possibly get?"

"Very small," She teased, "Annabel was probably a full pound smaller when she was born."

"That small?"

"She was very little."

Sebastian Sallow couldn't begin to imagine anything more incredible as he held the newborn baby in his arms in between them. Only a few hours old and it felt like his son was already growing up too fast. Even tiny little fingers wrapping around his singular knuckle it felt like he was getting bigger by the second.

To call the child a blessing had been an understatement. The lingering presence of the vow had been heavy in both their minds for a long time. Although the vow had already been broken in another life, the price had already been paid, and this life had given them a fresh start to correct their mistakes. And the little boy in his arms was proof of that.

"He looks more like you," Sebastian decided.

Amelia just tucked her head heavily against his arm as they both lay there admiring the miracle in front of them. Only she hadn't been looking at the child, her miracle had been her husband.

"Is that so?" She asked him softly. In truth, she had only been attempting to get him to talk more. The way that his eyes lit up with excitement had been her favorite sight. As Sebastian went on about the baby's dark hair and how he thought the closed eyes would end up being blue like hers, she only smiled up as she listened to him, feeling thankful to be there at that moment.

There were years that Amelia had thought about this moment. The perfect life that she had wanted, the loving husband, and their sweet children. Even if it hadn't been the perfect fairytale to get there, just to live in that moment, all of the pain along the way had been worth it.

After their reunion in the lighthouse years before, she realized during this life that she should not be the lamb nor the butcher. This life, without any magic, had been the one that she dreamed of living.

Only a life of peace and happiness. And that was how Amelia Sallow lived every day since.

Sebastian Sallow had proposed to her thirteen and a half times. Amelia had only once with her dying breath, but once was all it took. He had said yes after all. It had been a long and complex engagement, considering she hadn't been alive for most of it, although both liked to pretend that it hadn't counted. Once Amelia had felt like she had enough strength to leave their new home in the lighthouse the first place she asked to go was to the closest church. It had been a lifetime too long of waiting and in this life, she decided that she wanted to marry him as soon as possible.

There were no objections. And while there weren't many there to witness it, and it hadn't been a large celebration, neither could picture it any other way.
