"Frankly, I don't know either," replied Eui Hyun with a brief sentence. It wasn't a satisfactory answer, but sadly, the constant requests for support kept coming, leaving the guard with no choice but to quickly ascend to the ground.

On the cell wall, someone had etched words with their fingernails. Upon closer inspection, it revealed pessimistic thoughts about wanting to die or disappear.

"...I thought it would all end if I died, too."

Occasionally, he wondered if everything might be a mental illness after all. That's why, before entering the facility for individuals with special abilities, he had requested a mental evaluation.

The mental evaluation results were normal.

How could it be normal? In his first life, he witnessed the downfall of humanity, and in the second, he saw his adopted sibling's suicide. How could it be?

'Live regretting your choices for a lifetime. When you feel like dying in agony, think of me. Remember how I went in the end.'

Recalling Daewon's words before her death, Eui Hyun ran his fingers through his hair. Even though he, Kwon Eui Hyun, was emotionless, it felt shameful that someone's life was pulled out like a straw because of a choice made without much thought to avoid Z.

This life might end.

It could really end this time.

'Please, live for a long time.'

But would it really end?

Closing his icy eyes, Eui Hyun tried to judge rationally.

"Kim Taewon..."

At least, there was a need to have a conversation with that insane old man.

It had been ten days since Yunhwa caused a disturbance in the lobby. Those who used to mock Yunhwa had all sided with him now. Eui Hyun slept quietly in his cell and lived the same way every day. There were no annoying people bothering him, so he felt surprisingly peaceful.

"Yunhwa got dragged to the punishment room. They say it's not a place for people to live, but if Eui Hyun has a conscience, he should do something about it."

"People don't have consciences. Yunhwa used to say 'Hyungnim, Hyungnim' all the time, how much crap did we put up with?"

Even the inmates in solitary confinement could have 30 minutes of artificial sunlight a day. Of course, it was artificial sunlight, but the inmates gathered in the dome-shaped artificial sunlight space, occasionally mourning the unfortunate Yunhwa and cursing the heartless Eui Hyun.

"Well, he has a messed up personality, killing his own sister and even killing the boyfriend from the orphanage. If I were him and my father were the president, I'd live an easy life. What's he lacking in his life to bring misery to himself like this?"

"Maybe his skill level is a lie. It doesn't make sense that such a guy has that level of ability."

If two or more people were together after the riot, the guards' sanctions came down like a hammer.

"Hey, back off over there!"

The inmates who were cursing Eui Hyun shut their mouths and moved away, frowning. Time was running out. Keeping an eye on them, Eui Hyun approached where Kim Taewon was lying on a stretcher.

"If you scream, I'll kill you. Just shut up and answer the questions."

Respecting the old was for dogs. Growling, Eui Hyun stomped on Kim Taewon's palm and whispered low.
