Kate looked up as Kai entered the living room. She had been going through a case file when he walked in.

"Hey." Kai said with a small smile, leaning down to kiss her cheek. "I have some news." He sat down and reached out to take her hands. "Lucy is pregnant, it's mine."

Kate froze as she looked at him, trying to process the information.

"I told her she didn't have to make a decision yet but she said she thinks she wants to keep it." Kai said softly, squeezing Kate's hands.

Clearing her throat, Kate pulled her hands away. "So, she wants to keep your baby, but she can't be around our daughter?" She asked quietly.

"Kate." Kai said calmly. "She said 'thinks' that doesn't mean she will."

The blonde shook her head and stood up. "You know exactly what that means." She said, grabbing her file and going into their room.

Kai sighed deeply and leaned back on the couch, running his fingers through his hair.

That's when Nalani decided to make her presence known. Releasing a soft cry from the bassinet beside the couch.

Kai sat up and looked into the bassinet. "Hey pretty girl." He cooed, reaching in to lift her out.

Nalani instantly stopped crying, staring up at him with wide eyes.

Kai smiled softly and rocked her gently. "I love you, Nalani, nothing is ever going to change that, I promise." He whispered. "I love your mom too."

Kicking her feet, Nalani releases a soft clicking sound.

As Kai stared at his daughter, all his worries and concerns seemed to drift away. She made the whole world make sense. She made him feel so happy that nothing could hurt him.

Nalani began squirming after a few minutes, lifting her hands to her mouth.

"Hungry?" Kai asked gently, moving to get to his feet. He carried her into the kitchen and opened the fridge to find a bottle of milk. But there were none in the fridge, which was odd. Frowning, Kai knew he'd have to disturb Kate when she seemed to be angry, angry at him? Maybe? Angry at Lucy? Probably. He carried his daughter out of the kitchen and towards their bedroom.

The blonde was sitting up on the bed, leaning back against the headboard as she read through the file.

"Kate." Kai asked delicately. "Lani is hungry." He said, stepping towards her on the bed.

Putting the file down, Kate removed her shirt. She held her arms out for their daughter without looking at him.

"Are you angry with me? I just need to know." Kai asked bluntly, hating the tension between them.

Helping their daughter latch on, Kate finally looked up at him. Her eyes were bloodshot from crying. "Why does it matter? You're getting another baby, just like everyone wanted."

"They were only joking." Kai said. "And if you don't want me to have anything to do with this kid, then I'll talk to Lucy." He offered.

Closing her eyes, Kate shook her head. "That's not..." she swallowed thickly as she tried to get her thoughts in order. "I just... you said you weren't joking about us having another one." She whispered, finally opening her eyes to look at him.

"And I wasn't but only when we are both ready." Kai said softly, moving closer to her.

Kate searched his eyes for a moment before looking down. "What if I'm ready now?"

Kai reached out to place two fingers under her chin to lift her head. "Really?"

Nodding her head, Kate cleared her throat. "Yes, but if you're having a baby with Lucy. You won't... you'll be with her more."
