I AWAKE TO TAPPING ON THE WINDOW. At first, I think it's in my head, the fatigue getting to me. When it doesn't stop, I realise that the tapping is real.
With a groan, I stand up. The floorboards creak slightly under my feet. The room is almost dead silent other than that. Renee stayed in Charlie's room tonight. Poor Meeks.
With a click of the window latch, I slide the window pane up and peer outside. Suddenly, a pebble comes flying at me. It hits my shoulder and I wince slightly.
