"YOU WANT ME TO WHAT?" I ask. Shaking my head, I answer my own question. "To runaway with you? To where? Neil, have you even thought about this?"

"Well, no. Not really. But we can figure it out together," he says.

I close my eyes as I sigh. "Neil, we have friends here. We have to finish high school. We can't just leave," I say, opening my eyes.

"What's the point? We don't need to have a high school degree to get into Juilliard!" he says.

"We? You want to go to Juilliard?" I say.

Neil nods. "Of course! We can go together! I can learn to be an actor while you study dance. It'll be great. We can run away to New York so we can go. Get jobs, apply. You said your aunt works there, so we might have an advantage there, then we can—"

"Neil! Neil. We don't have the money. Not even for a train ticket. And there is no way I'm walking all the way from here to New York. That's, like, three hundred miles."

He smirks, reaching into his bag. I furrow my eyebrows and lean over the table slightly, trying to see what he's doing. Suddenly, he pulls out a large wad of fifty-dollar notes.

"Bam! Money for train tickets, groceries, anything! I didn't just not think this through at all," he says.

I shake my head. "God, you're insane."

"So? What d'ya say?"

I think about it for a second. He's asking me to run away with him. To go to Juilliard with him (which I haven't even applied for yet!). We wouldn't have a place to live if my aunt rejected us from living with her, although I doubt she would. We have a whole life here in Vermont. I had my friends and the Dead Poets, Neil had the Dead Poets and his family. It's not like we could just leave without any explanation.
