The eldest daughter's curse

I have the eldest daughter's curse
To always feel the weight of responsibility,
To carry the burdens of those who came before,
To be the one to lead and to support.

I am the firstborn, expected to be strong,
To set the example, to pave the way,
But sometimes I long for the freedom
To be carefree and unencumbered.

I feel the pressure to be perfect,
To never falter or show weakness,
But sometimes I yearn for the grace
To make mistakes and learn from them.
