WARNING THIS CHAPTER HAS EXPLICT DESCRIPTION OF GORE AND DEATH.

Ranger pulled out his pistol, shaking as he stood up from the fire his face was pale and full of worry. SG1 and 3 saw this following his lead. Ranger quickly motioned for the teams to get inside the bunker as a hulking shape was seen outside the shield wall. "Daniel, what is that thing?" O'Neil asked as they stepped back towards the door.

"Why do you always ask me? Do I have the word Xenologist written on my forehead?" Daniel asked, aiming his pistol as well. Ranger reached forward and gripped Daniels shoulder, pulling harshly and basically throwing him inside the door.

"I guess we should hurry." O'Neil said as the furthest member of SG3, who was a mere foot away, turned around to make a sprint for the door only for a hand to shoot through the shield grabbing the man tripping him. "Open fi-" Before O'Neil could finish, the SG3 marine was dragged out. Gunfire from his LMG could be heard before the roar bellowed again.

His screams could be heard as the shape of his limbs were blurry yet showed clear enough how he was being torn apart. Ranger pulled Teal'c in as the creature threw the half-severed torso of the still living member at them as it slapped against the wall. Ranger slammed the bulkhead shut, locking it tight. the other 3 SG3 marines rushed over and tried to go out, only to be stopped by the thudding of flesh against metal. Ranger rushed over and brought up a shot of outside. There, right next to the door was a hulking beast of flesh and fur swinging the body of the limp SG3 marine. Before he could watch anymore, Ranger paused the video feed, feeling somewhat sick. SG1 and the remainder of SG3 looked at the beast. It was hunched over yet was easily 8 feet tall. 10 feet if it stood up straight.

"What the hell?!" Ranger then took the book back and turned to the page with a picture of the creature outside.

"Coisiche craiceann." Ranger says as he takes off his helmet to show blond hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. A look of great sadness filled his eyes.

"Skin walker....." Daniel translates as the howls grow louder and more aggressive as the sounds of flesh and bone cracks can be heard from a speaker. What sounded like something being slurped up was heard occasionally. "Strengths - strong, fast, highly aggressive, mimicry, camouflage, flesh shaper, intelligent, ambush expert, aggressive hunter, Jesus the lost goes on and on." Daniel turned the page as the list of strengths continued.

"That doesn't sound nice.... anyway, to kill it?" O'Neil asked angrily as Carver seemed to stare at the paused video.

"Weaknesses... Weaknesses..." Daniel muttered, going through as Ranger put his hand on the page with a head shake.

"Why's he shaking his head?" A SG3 marine as he leveled the M249 machine gun at the door ready to charge out.

"I think.... he's saying there is none." Daniel says softly as Ranger walks over to the video and presses a couple of buttons, turning it off as the sou is then silenced besides the banging of the bulkhead door.

"Is creutair olc a th’ ann a chaidh a dhèanamh nar pròis gus an Goa'uld a mharbhadh. Is e rud a th’ ann a tha a’ tàir air na h-anaman a tha air am fàgail an seo air an itealan seo.  Cruthachadh mo shinnsir bidh gu bràth air chuairt air feadh na tìr." (It is an evil creature that was made in our hubris to kill the Gouald. It is something that haunts the souls left here on this plane.  My ancestors' creation forever shall roam the land.) As he spoke though none could understand him all recognized the tone of fear, reluctants and even a hint of shame.

"Daniel..... any clue what he said there?" Carver asked with a raised brow. "Cause that didn't sound like a solution."

"Not a single word besides Goa'uld." Daniel said as he kept flipping through the book, looking at more and more creatures.

"So what does it look like we're dealing with?" O'Neil asked, taking off the book.

"The uh... coisiche craiceann is also known as a native American myth." Dainel explained as he fixed his glasses. "From how it looks an acts, it resembles that of a Wendigo which i should mention what the word he used is translated too."

"

What is the translation then?" Teal,c asked as he leaned on his staff.

"It means skin walker. But what is described here is not that." Daniel said as O'Neil handed the book back.

"How does one's skin walk?" Teal'c asked in his usual stoic tone. His head turned sideways with an air of confusion.

"In Navajo culture, a skin-walker is a type of harmful witch who has the ability to turn into, possess, or disguise themselves as an animal. Though what I see here is more based on another native American creature." Daniel explained as he then pointed at the picture of the coisiche craiceann.

"So if it's not something shape shifter, thank god, what is it?" O'Neil asked as the pounding on the door subsided finally. A loud howls shook the room before it became silent again.

"A Wendigo."

"Wait, like those things with the antlers and howls while hunting people in the forests?" Carver asked as Daniel nodded with a sigh before rubbing his forehead as he set the book aside.

"In the native American folk lore, wendigo, a mythological cannibalistic monster in the spiritual tradition of North American Algonquian-speaking tribes. It is associated with winter and described as either a fearsome beast that stalks and eats humans or as a spirit that possesses humans, causing them to turn into cannibals. And that's the media portrayal of Wendigo. In actual lore, a wendigo did not have antlers. But the problem is that wendigo Lore is completely based on secondhand accounts, so its finicky at best as to how to deal with them." Daniel took off his glasses to clean. Ranger walked over to a book self filled with books before picking one up and started writing in it.

"So basically, we're dealing with a monster that no one can agree on how to handle them?" Carver asked with annoyance.

"How do you even know about native American folk lore? I thought you were an archeologist?"

"Well, since coming back from Abydos I studied all aspects of mythology." Daniel explained as the rest of SG3 marines seemed to be debating in hushed tones about plans to go after the creature. Ranger was writing what seemed to be an entire novel for some reason. Daniel looked over his shoulder and went wide eye.

"Whats he writing?"

"Apparently he's writing the story of what he knows about the coisiche craiceann creation."
