It was a breezy autumn evening. It was pleasantly cool and crisp golden leaves continuously fell off the trees.

"Yeah, mom? I'll be coming home a bit late today. I'm meeting Su-ji tonight," I assured mom on call.

"Alright. Take care," she said and I cut the call.

Eight years.

It's been eight, really long years since I moved to Seoul with my parents.

I did my university here, graduated, got a job, made some new friends, and...

That's it. There's nothing more to it. I still miss home, though.

I chose to walk to the nearby café to meet Su-ji after, once again, eight years. Although I moved away, we kept in touch. I'd call and text her frequently and tell her my daily office stories to her, to which she listened to with utmost interest, as if she knew everyone I was talking about personally. I'd met many new people here but none of them were as fun and loyal as her.

I entered the café. The vibe was soft. R&B songs played in the background whilst some people sipped on their drinks; others enjoyed their pastries. The place is rarely crowded in spite of the delicious food and drinks, that's why I was a frequent customer here. My mouth watered as my gaze wandered on everyone else's food; however, I decided not to order anything till Su-ji came.

Five minutes later, I heard a car honk outside. My face lit up. I had a feeling- no, I was sure that Su-ji had arrived. I went outside the café and saw Su-ji stepping out of the backseat. The car's windows were tinted, so I couldn't really see who dropped her. It didn't seem like a taxi either.

"Hey, you didn't tell me you got a boyfriend!" I teasingly hit Su-ji's shoulder, assuming it was her boyfriend who dropped her.

"What do you mean?" her beaming face turned into a bamboozled one as she asked me

"Your boyfriend dropped you, right?" I said in a guessing tone. Su-ji shook her head and laughed.

"You dumbass. It's not my boyfriend! Taehyung dropped me here. Do you remember him?"

My heart skipped a beat.

How can I ever forget him?

The most beautiful love I'll ever have, even if it was one-sided. I still think of it every time before I smile. Even a little spark that ignited in my heart when he looked at me or touched me-even if it was just for a nanosecond or accidental-my heart would skip a beat.

Su-ji knocked on the car's windows. "Open up!"

The tinted windows rolled down and there he was; manly as ever, all grown up, but that hint of a spark in his eyes was still visible.

When his gaze met mine, he smiled at me pleasantly. I smiled back and greeted him. He came out of the car and talked to us for a while and I came to know that he'd been in Seoul for the last two years.

Small world, I usually say, but I guess not.

We did some small talk about work and weather.

As he dropped Su-ji and went inside the car to drive back, I saw him signalling something to Su-ji, to which she smiled teasingly.

We went inside the café. Both of us ordered an Iced Americano each and talked over coffee.

"Oh, and..." Su-ji began as she put her hand in her handbag in order to find something. She then took out a card.

"Taehyung's getting engaged the next Saturday," she smiled. "I really hope that you can attend. With uncle, aunt and Minjae.

"Oh, congratulations!" I beamed.

Surprisingly, I didn't feel the pain that I thought I'd feel. I had moved on, hadn't I? I didn't feel any pain. Not the pain that my seventeen-year-old self would've felt upon hearing such news.

"So, you're going to attend the wedding, too, right?"

"Obviously, I will! But who's he getting married to?"

"Oh? You remember that girl that Taehyung used to hang out with all the time in school? He's getting engaged to Hi-seu," she smiled and I smiled back, genuinely.

Hi-seu?

Heather.
