The air was thick with smoke and ash as two men opposed each other, two beings so much more powerful than any other in the world that their mere presence caused the shadows to wilt and skies to shake.
One was Madara Uchiha, the Ghost of the Uchiha - a hollowed martyr who had lost everything, even himself. Who had once sought to lead the world to an eden of dreams by any means necessary, who had finally found a new place to call home.
And the other was Sakashiki Otsutsuki, a terrifying otherworldly being, who had come to harvest the world of Remnant's life force in order to begin his journey to godhood, a journey that nobody but himself knew the reason behind.
The two were silent for a few moments, merely taking in the sensation of their battle thus far, existing in the world which had rejected them both. Sakashiki floated high above the vast and wrathfilled oceans, looking down at Madara who stood in a colossal crater that was slowly being engulfed with water from all sides.
"Bravo, Madara. You're doing better than I thought you would.. And look at that body, I wonder if those unsightly modifications are the source of your power?" The Otsutsuki referred to Madara's now exposed Hashirama cell and White Zetsu implants as he taunted the Uchiha calmly, a smug grin on his face as he floated far above his foe. The Uchiha didn't respond verbally, only slowly moving his arms away from his face and looking up at his opponent with a frightening glare. All was still for a moment, the winds whispering as the ocean waves roared around them.
Then like lightning, Madara moved - blasting off from the crater with blazing eyes, a sage chakra enhanced chidori formed in his right hand and aimed straight towards Sakashiki's face. In just a millionth of a millionth of a second, he traveled from the crater to right in front of Sakashiki's face, moving ten kilometers in almost an instant. Madara reared back his arm, trying to impale the alien in the face with his chidori.
But he wasn't fast enough.
Lashing out like a viper, the heterochromic being grabbed Madara's wrist, yanking Madara's hand forward and forcing him to miss. He then formed a black rinnegan rod in his other hand, before stabbing Madara in his right shoulder, bypassing his aura completely and impaling the ghost of the Uchiha. Madara's whole body spasmed as the foreign chakra began to enter his body, blood squirting from the wound as he faltered.
"Come on, can't you dance anymore?" Sakashiki asked, kicking Madara in the stomach and sending him flying through the sky at lightning speeds. As he sailed over the islands and ocean waters, Madara formed another bubble shield with his left hand, protecting him as Sakashiki blasted forth and threw a devastating punch.
As the blow connected with the barrier, Madara was sent flying even faster, traveling mile after mile across the horizon, soaring over the world below as his opponent chased after him. Again and again, Sakashiki hammered Madara's barrier with world shaking punches. The Uchiha could feel the vibrations as his barrier began to crack, the lightspeed punches causing shockwaves that shook the world itself.
'Damn it, at this rate I'll be done for! My aura's almost been depleted, and I'm starting to run low on chakra... and this certainly isn't doing me any favors!' Madara snarled as he tried to yank the black rod out of his arm, the foreign chakra of the alien invader still trying to shut off his body. His mind began to flash back to his final triumph, the moments of absolute victory he had relished in just after casting the Mugen Tsukuyomi - just before Black Zetsu had taken it all away from him. He could almost feel the phantom pain of Kaguya's chakra and will entering him, causing his rage to turn to pure fury as he pulled the rod from his shoulder.
"I've had enough!" He snarled, letting the final punch crash against his barrier and shatter it. Madara then spun around midair, kicking the Otsutsuki in the face and sending him flying down towards the deep navy blue waters.
