It was another day as usual.
Taily walked through the cramped corridors of the school, avoiding the various other objects walking and chatting. Arriving at his locker, he swung open the door, placing his books inside.
He took out a small, baby blue coloured book, which had the title 'My Diary'.
Closing his locker, he continued down the hall, eventually arriving at the canteen.
"Not really hungry today..."
He proceeded to a table in the far corner of the canteen. Nobody ever went there, which was perfect for him. Sure, it was a bit dusty, but that never hurt him.
He flipped open his diary, fishing out his favourite blue pen from his pencil case. And with that, he started to write. He jotted down the activities of his day in great detail, from his meals(or lack of) to the lessons he was taught.
Deep in thought, he put his head on his hands(or well, I guess, feet) and clicked his pen.
He jumped at the sudden ringing of bells.
"Already?! I should really learn to be faster..."
Closing the book, he placed his pen back into the light grey case, before hopping off the bench and strolling back to the hall.
As he walked his way to his locker, he carefully avoided the large crowds of students gathering at certain areas. Was it just him, or were there more people today?
As he tried his best to make his way through crowds and crowds, he absentmindedly watched others interacting. One person stared back, and he immediately shied away, moving his gaze to the tiled floor beneath him.
"Okay, no looking up."
He swore to himself under his breath, continuing to walk as he kept his line of sight below normal.
"Ow!"
He harshly fell on the cold, hard floor, dropping the things he was carrying in his mouth. Being armless isn't easy, you know. Fighting the ever-so-present feeling of fear and dread and guilt, he stared up to the object above him.
"Watch where you're going, punk."
They walked away, leaving Taily on the floor. Snapping out of his trance, he scrambled to gather his items. As he got up, he nervously glanced around him — a plethora of judgemental eyes darted his way from every direction. He hated it, he just wished that he wasn't so nervous all the time, that he could just disappear.
He immediately rushed towards his locker, which wasn't too far away now. Gathering a few more things, he dashed to class to avoid being late. Wouldn't want to be embarrassed again.
Ring!
He hadn't realised that that much time had passed, well, not like he had a really good sense of time anyways. Either way, it was time to head home. No more dilly-dallying. He packed up his items into his bag and strode out of the classroom.
He slowly walked down the rocky path to his neighbourhood. His mind felt like a warfield, countless things happening left and right, chaos reigning all. In reality, he was tired. He was numb to it all.
After ensuring it was dry(don't want that incident to happen again, don't we?), he sat down on the bench. He took in the smell of various flowers, finally relaxing. This was really the only place he could really unwind. The others were... less than ideal, so to say.
He was just about to close his eyes and relax when...
"RAAAURGH!!"
He screamed as he panicked and fell off the seat, falling to the grassy ground beneath. He struggled to fight back his tears, hearing laughing from behind. He saw two figures running over to them.
One was a comet with a fiery tail, and one was a towel, with purple markings at the end.
He got up and tried his best to dust himself off, yet again picking his stuff up. If he got a penny for every time he had done this, he could buy himself a nice dinner.
He watched as the comet, the towel, and the pencil scribble walked off.
-
"Oh please, it was pretty funny, can't you agree?" Doodle said, walking with their friends.
"Oh uh, was it? Oh yea! It was! I think," Comet mumbled.
Towel looked back to the poor fish tail. Even though Doodle was a dear friend of his, he couldn't help but feel like that was a bit... unnecessary.
He glanced back to his friends, saying, "Hey, I'm gonna go see something for a bit, you two wait here."
"Okay, have fun!" Comet waved as he watched his friend run off into the distance.
Towel ran towards the fish tail, slowing down once he got nearer.
"Uh, hey," he began, "Sorry about my friend earlier, they can be a bit.. rude."
"Oh, u-uhm. It's okay," The fish tail stuttered, his voice cracking.
"Say, what's your name?"
"Taily...W-what about you?"
"Towel," he said with a smile.
"Towel! Are you done yet?" shouted a voice from a distance away.
"Uh, yeah! Hold on!" He shouted back, then turned towards Taily.
"Well, I gotta go now, seeya!"
"Uh, bye!" Taily returned the greeting to his new acquaintance.
He stopped to think for a second, before getting up and heading back home. Wouldn't want to be late, his parents wouldn't be happy.
In the end, it was just another day, to be lost in the memory of time.
