Sans had woken up from a terrible nightmare, glancing around alert, hiding his terror and panic.
He noticed he was in his brother's arms still, which had calmed him down.
Good, his brother was here, he wasn't...he wasn't..going to disappear on him, he won't get grabbed by the red strings. His piece of a soul was still there. Sans could feel it, his brother won't get taken away from him.
Of course sans was excited about papyrus drawing images in the air and he was happy that his younger brother was teaching him that.
But the terror never really faded away, it remained within him, what a terrible nightmare.
Sure he continued to practice with drawing in the air, mostly just drawing papyrus and some attempts to draw what his brother was drawing, but that nightmare...
He can't get it out of his head, his brothers soul piece shattering, his brother disappearing with red strings, him being left alone, just watching as his brother went on to protecting a multiverse, without him, his brother not knowing about him anymore.
But in the nightmare, he seemed content that his brother was alive and mostly alright, and that he could actually feel emotions with...paint or some kind of liquid that his brother drank...
But it still terrified him, he doesn't want his brother disappearing on him, being taken away. He wasn't sure if he could handle that, not after so long, not after finally having someone respond back to him, who's trying to be there for him.
He wasn't sure if he could handle being left here alone again. Sure, he wasn't alone now, but it didn't mean much when no one else responds to him besides his brother now.
Even though papyrus couldn't feel, he was at least trying.
Even though the smiles from papyrus were terrifying due to the lack of emotions.
It wasn't that papyrus couldn't smile, it was the lack of emotions in the smile that startled him so badly.
It was terrifying, but he'll get used to it, his brother was at least trying for him and that's all he can ask for.
It was better than before, he wasn't as lonely or sad anymore.
He didn't have to pretend everything was alright...not with his brother who didn't care.
But he seemed to be at least trying for him, despite the lack of emotions and personality, that was enough for him.
Sans continued to practice with his magic drawing in the air, his brother was better since he had better imagination then him. Or it could be from the fact his brother knew things he didn't know.
So there was that, but sans was happy with his brother, he hasn't broken their promise on being there for him.
That was a relief to sans, his brother won't leave him on purpose, it would have to be forced if anyone wanted to take his brother from him.
And papyrus won't go down without a fight. Sans knew that, he was happy and relieved, he didn't need to worry to much besides the red strings from his nightmares.
But there was no one who can take his brother from him, so it will be fine. There wasn't anything that can separate the brothers.
And that left sans feeling satisfied, as he had a feeling, no one could force the two apart, or no one there who wanted to force them apart.
It was just a strange feeling he had, that there was no body here to do so, or want to do so.
That really had him feeling satisfied with.. something, he wasn't too sure why though.
But sans shrugged it off, leaving that thought on the back of his mind as he continued to practice with his brother.
Unknown to sans, their multiverse deity was not fate, not destiny or the regular ones, but just death and one other. And death has already chosen his child, who was called reaper sans.
While the other, who was deaths sibling, called dreary, had his own chosen in the form of an ink papyrus.
They both go hand to hand, death and dreary, dreary was the deity of dull, bleak, lifeless, and depression.
Though he had one more hold over something that wasn't his with a bonus, that was given to him by their life deity, and that was over thriving and just a bit, over some souls that contain emotions. He'll eventually give it to his chosen when the time comes, but that time was not now.
Death kept a close eye on both of their chosen, as dreary had promised that his own chosen would be able to touch his chosen without fear. His brother made good on his promises so death did not have to worry about it.
Reaper was doing alright for now, even if he was a little disheartened by not even being able to touch his own brother. But he'll find that a few will not fall to his touch, dreary's chosen was one.
Death only had to wait for things to fall into place, and he'll be satisfied when reaper was happy.
