Kang Eun-woo

I sit down on the seat in the direct middle of the class, not too far to not hear and not too close to get noticed.

I almost smile at the sight of one of my best friends walking into the class, but stop myself after seeing a familiar girl with braids walk beside him.

Carter doesn't even acknowledge me and walks straight to the back with her.

Why would he talk to someone so annoying?

I look back to see him giggling with her and frowning my eyebrows at the sight. Of course, it's that nerd who made me miss breakfast minutes before this. If it wasn't for her, I would have spent the morning with my friends.

Before I could go into hating her more, one of the best friends I was talking about sat next to me and opened her book.

"You can't keep on gatekeeping him forever, you know." She states before taking her pencil case out of her bag.

I looked over to her and pushed my hair, so it's out of my eyes. My parents had allowed me to grow my hair out last week, leaving me to have a jellyfish-layered wolf cut this year.

My mom almost fainted when she saw it.

I look down to the side of me to look at Aniyah, "Keep on staring and not paying attention, and I might overtake your place as number 1." She smirked.

I have known Aniyah since we were 4 because my older cousin is best friends with her older sister, and we've been in this school since grade R.

I've also known Carter since then, but clearly, he doesn't care about our bond.

"You wish." I scoff paying attention to the teacher that had just walked in.

As soon as we met, I've been doing great at my academics coming out as 1 and her as 2. Me and I are simple and predictable. That's one of the reasons I like our friendship.
Carter and I were predictable, too.

"All right, class. I'm Miss Davis, and I'll be your math teacher this year."

A few boys whistle at the sight of her, and I roll my eyes. "Someone is a bit sassy today," Aniyah laughs.

"At least I'm not always the first loser." I snap.

Aniyah scoffs before looking back to the teacher as laughter erupts from the back of the class. I turn to see my former best friend laughing at what I assume is a joke the nerd made. Just then, I hear a jarring laughter erupt quickly after I cover my ears at the horrible noise. As I'm not the only one who hears the displeasing sound, some people laugh at her laugh or start to judge it.

Guess what side I'm on.

"Ok, who was that?" Miss Davis asks.

The whole class looks over to Charlotte as if she's an alien.

"Oh shi- shoot."

"Pens down." Mr. Martinez speaks before he starts to take in our papers.

"I most definitely failed," Andrés complains.

Every month, we write a test for each class, and then the place you got would be on the wall until you write the next test, and they replace it.

I give my paper to the teacher and then look over to my dramatic friend. "Grades aren't everything." I attempt to comfort him.

"Says the one who always places number one," he pouts.

Andrés and I have become friends because our parents are friends somehow. Apparently, his mom used to work with my father or something.

"But you're great at English." I grit out.

I sigh as the bell rings.

"Finally break," Andrés sighs before putting his pen in his blazer and practically running out of the class.

I take my bag and exit the classroom heading for the dining hall. Once I get there, I take a tray and place a salad on it before walking over to my friend's table and sitting down.

"This can't be happening." Quinten gasps, looking over to his former girlfriend who had her arm around the hyena.

I look up at my food to look at his distraught face.

Quinten has been moping around for the whole holiday talking about Maya. Andrés has been comforting him for the time being since he has never gotten annoyed, unlike the rest of us.

"Looks like it," Andrés says in a sarcastic tone before munching on the tuna sandwich they are serving today.

I stand corrected.

"She looks happy," his eyes are still focused on both of them. I roll my eyes to look at the Kwestpoints' new trending couple to see the hyena look over to our table, then lock eyes with Quinten and wink at him before kissing Maya on the cheek leaving Maya to giggle.

"Dawm Maya stepped up her game," Andrés smirked before getting slapped on the head by Quinten.

"Maya's blind. That girl isn't even all that." Brooklyn scoffed.

"Yeah, for the first time, I agree with Betty," I join the conversation.

Everyone's heads turn to me, and I go back to eating my food.

"Yeah, even Eun-woo agrees with me," Beth smiles.

"Brittany, he called you Betty, and Eun-woo wouldn't know fine if it sat on his face." Zola huffs.

"I wish it sat on mine," Andrés whispers under his breath before Quinten hits him.

"Why are you always like this?" Zola says, giving Andrés a dirty look.

"I thought you weren't talking to me," Andrés smirked. Making Zola roll her eyes.

Zola snaps her head to Quinten. "Oh, and Quinten, you cheated on her like 58 times and still expect her to follow you around like a lost puppy? Stop acting like a dick and grow one." Zola takes her tray, walks away from the table, and heads to another.

"Good riddance," Battery laughed as we all looked over to her.

Carter gives her a look before taking his tray, "I'm out, come on, Kang." He knows he head, referring to the table where the heyina sits.

I shake my head. The last thing I want to do is sit at the same table as her.

"Really dude?" Quinten sighs.

"It's not you. It's her," Xavier looks over to Betty and sighs before looking back at Quinten. "Nah, who am I kidding? It's the both of y'all." He sighs before turning around and walking over to the same table his sister was sitting at.

Betty looks between me Andrés and Quinten before laughing awkwardly "Well I guess I'm the only girl here."

"Ima go get high," Andrés announces, standing up.

"I'll join." Quinten and Andrés get up and leave me here with the blond that is shooting lasers through my skull.

"I guess it's just you and me." She smirks.
