baby monster rant

i didn't really like babymonster's debut, but i saw someone made an ai cover of bp singing it, so i gave it a listen, and it just made so much more sense? like batter up sounds like a bp song, it looks like a bp mv. I wouldn't be surprised if it was originally made for them. also made me realize that blackpink's vocal color carries their songs.

i know they said the same thing when blackpink debuted, and they kept getting compared to 2ne1, but personally, i think 2ne1 and blackpink have pretty different sounds. i can't imagine blackpink singing "come back home", nor can i imagine 2ne1 singing "boombayah". batter up, however, sounds like it belongs in blackpink's discography. again, i wouldn't be surprised if it was meant to be a blackpink song.

the baemon girls are insanely talented. It's such a shame that yg refuses to step out of their comfort zone and make something that suits them. everything about them is just a blackpink replica. I'm not hearing anyone talk about this nut i distinctly remember the bp members mention that babymonster was one of the options for their name before they settled on blackpink. like yg, how lazy do you have to be to not even come up with a new name for them??

i saw that their wikipedia page mentioned that they were created with a "high teen concept" which, if you don't know, is basically a bright and pastel, 90s chick flick, clueless-esque concept. i saw nowhere else mention this, so I'm not sure if it's true, but visual wise and age wise, i think it could work much better. with somi's "birthday", "xoxo", and "dumb dumb", i don't think yg, or at least teddy, is incapable of doing such a concept.
