A/N Dedicated to Val, you babe x

Wendy stood up, smiling as the lights in the theatre flickered on, creating a soft glow around the room. Children were yawning against their parent's shoulders as they were carried out of the room; popcorn and sweets clutched in their little hands. Parent's tired eyes flickered around the dim room; slight smiles on their faces were left from the tale of the peasant girl finding her prince. Wendy brushed herself down and gathered her rubbish, her eyes shining as she watched the credits scrolling down the screen before walking down the aisle. Her heart swelled as she threw her wrappers in the bin, the story of Cinderella still fresh in her mind. She adored Fairy Tale Fridays, more so than any other themed day at the cinema.
The bright lights made her wince as she stepped out, the sound of shoes crunching on the popcorn-covered floor and quiet murmurs surrounded her. The air smelled like butter and sugar at the same time, but it was a comforting smell.
Chip and Peter stood chatting behind the counter, their uniforms tied and tucked neatly around them. Peter had his arms crossed as he leaned against the soda machine, a face-splitting grin on his face. Wendy blushed at the sight of his bright eyes and pearly-white teeth, her heart pounded against her chest. Her lips twitched into a nervous smile before she ducked her head, letting her hair fall around her. The sight of him simply made her breathing hard and arduous, almost as if she had been running a marathon. It felt like she had been sprinting towards him for miles, eagerly waiting to see his face. The after effects of said marathon are what she experienced weekly: flushed cheeks, pounding heart and bright smiles.
Through the veil of hair Wendy could feel eyes on her, and felt her cheeks turn brighter when she saw both, Chip and Peter, looking directly at her.
Breathe. She reminded herself.
Wendy took a deep breath and smiled slightly at the both of them, more amused at herself and her behaviour. She knew she shouldn't be nervous around him, it just naturally happened. She liked him too much for it not to happen.
Turning back around, Wendy followed the line of customers out of the door, towards her mint-green bike.
Peter's eyes followed her the whole way out and Wendy couldn't deny the giddy feeling his look brought.
