The snow hit the ground softly as Wendy's boots created imprints on the surface of the white powder already covering the floor. She felt amazing, the winter season was one reason for lifted her spirits and Peter was another reason. She couldn't be any happier.
They had been texting a lot; as the days became shorter and Christmas rapidly approached, their relationship had already blossomed. Wendy caught herself smiling every time she looked at his text just because she always favoured what he had to say.
After getting over the slightly nerve-wracking and awkward stage of being on pins and needles, surprisingly Wendy now felt a lot more comfortable around the guy she had a crush on. She would even go as far as standing beside the counter talking to him while she waited for her movie to start.
His actions would always elicit a smile from Wendy. That was one of the most important things. He was so lively, so cheerful, it was almost contagious and it was nice having someone who could instantly make her happy.
The skip in Wendy's step was rather salient to everyone she passed. She was nervous about their meeting, it was the first time they had initiated anything outside of the theatre and their phones. But Wendy knew the flurry of butterflies in her stomach were the good kind, the kind she welcomed. The kind that told her was seconds away from seeing the guy she liked, her potential version of a prince charming.
The inside of the coffee shop looked warm and inviting but Wendy didn't get a chance to go in before she felt a hand on her shoulder. The warmth from the hand seeped into the material of her coat and Wendy smiled when Peter came into her line of vision.
"Hi," She breathed, her cheeks flushed from the cold.
"Hey, Wendy." Peter smiled at her, his eyes meandering over her features before settling on her eyes. "You look cold."
Wendy shrugged softly, the corners of her mouth twitching. "So do you."
The movement of her mouth seemed to bring Peter's attention to him and then suddenly, everything slowed down. The smile slowly slid away from Peter's face and his breathing grew drastically heavy. All traces of laughter and humour gone from his face, as it was now a mask of seriousness. He whirled around so he could cup both of Wendy's elbows comfortably, letting her feel the warmth and comfort.
"Wendy, I...I," Peter stuttered, blinking fast and trying to find the right words to say. "I just really need to do this."
Wendy's heart thumped against her chest and her face was probably red but in that moment, she couldn't care less, in that moment the only thing that mattered was Peter's face slowly inching towards her. The gap so little that it made her heart go into overdrive, her emotions were torrential, that was until she felt the soft texture of his lips press against her own.
The kiss was short and passionate that it took Wendy's breath away. When she opened her eyes a few seconds later she was surprised to find Peter's face a breadths width away from her own, a gleam playing in the middle of his eyes.
"I like you, Wendy." Peter paused, his grin stretching. "A lot."
Wendy smiled, her heart fluttering in her chest as the snow felt down around them, landing on their hair and clothes. She inched up on the balls of her feet, slowly pressing her lips against his, whilst cupping his cheeks with the palm of her hands.
Hearing him say those words in person meant a lot to her, seeing him utter them and knowing what it feels like to kiss him was too much for her to handle.
"I like you, too, Peter," She murmured and this time it was hard to tell who brought whose lips to who.
Maybe Wendy had found her Prince Charming. Maybe she had found her Happily Ever After.
The End.
