⭑Chapter 4 - Sincerely, Toto Wolff⭑

A/N- This chapter fyi is also just going to be a sort of continuation of the last chapter and what happened there. I was going to make it into just one long chapter, but I don't know if people really like long chapters and I wanted to post something for the day so. Anyway let's get going with the next chapter, number 4 whoop whoop.

Toto Wolff's Office - 6th December 2022 - Mercedes HQ, Brackley, UK

Lewis Hamilton POV

22 is really young to travel around the world working with/for a Formula 1 driver. Oh gosh, I haven't even gotten into Toto's office to talk to him about the options for the two positions on my team that need to be filled and I am already overthinking things. I know that I really want this Grace girl to be a part of my team, but I also don't want to put all my hope into her to get both or one of the positions, because if Toto doesn't agree with me I know I will be disappointed with anyone else at this point. This is literally my mind trying to soften the blow if I walk into this office and tell Toto that I want the 22-year-old girl who was a last-minute mention to be my new physio AND performance coach, and he doesn't agree. The last few days, when I should have been doing the vital admin work at the end of the season which is an annual thing so I know how important it is, I have been fixation. I know it sounds a little bit creepy to say I am hyper-fixated on this young girl, but part of me feels like she is perfect for this role and that I need to fight for her to get it even if Toto doesn't agree at first. As much as it pains my soul to say it, I do have SOME sway in what happens in my team and in Mercedes as a whole, you know being a seven-time world champion and all. 

Nope, that's it. I am walking into this office and telling Toto it straight, I want Grace Jones to be seriously considered for this position, actually, I want her to have this position. I am going to give him my honest (and negative but true) opinion on everyone else he has suggested and I will make him see what I do if need be. I will have my way as bratty as that sounds I trust Angela and I can't shake the feeling that Grace is the only one for this job and if I have to sign my soul away to get her I will (maybe not that far just you get the gist).

I enter the office and prepare my mind, soul, and body for the conversation that is about to play out. Toto and I are very passionate people but he a reasonable person and will hear me out, I just really don't want to have to fight so hard, but most importantly I want Toto to be on board and enthusiastic about this not just to support and endorse it. 

"Lewis, Hi" Toto greets me from over the top of his computer at his desk.

"Hey Toto, I had a good look at all the candidates over the past weeks and have made some notes and some opinions for you", get straight to the point, that's good.

"Wonderful, glad you managed to fit it in, where do you want to start". Sweet, he is going to let me talk. 

I get into talking about all the meh and not-so-good things about the people's photos we have lying in front of us. Things have stuck out to me through the many re-reads of these files such as, not great with flying, not really sure where I want to go next, gets a bit nervous around large amounts of people. Highlighting these in front of Toto is making me realise even more, firstly did Toto even look at these before giving them to me? Surely someone who doesn't like flying isn't cut out for this job. And secondly how Grace is becoming increasingly more perfect with the second. 

"Toto, as much as I hate to say it, I just don't think any of these people are the right fit for this job, me, and for the team." Good, now continue, don't give him time to talk just get to where you want to get this conversation too. "We have worked with each other for a long time now and you know what I look for in a team and I just don't think that anyone here is a good choice. But don't get me wrong they are all great at what they do and are very skilled and talented, but you know how much time I spend with Ange and Ricky, they need to have personality and other things that are just as important to me". Grace now, talk about Grace. "Toto, that girl Grace Jones who Angela mentioned", "Yes Lewis I have looked into her as well" he interrupts me and from that comment I can't tell if he thinks Grace is a good or bad option for the job so I continue.
