"Here you are Dan, ten pounds and a smile please." I hand the driver the money and just get out of the taxi fast. The whole bloody journey he's been trying to get me to cheer up. I don't think he understands what 'leave me alone' means at all.
The wind has really picked up now and my quiff is blowing all over the place probably making me look like a right mess. I only get to walk a few steps away from the taxi before the driver shouts my name again. I really want to scream 'fuck off' to him right now. That's how annoyed and angry he is making me.
I turn around sharply, biting my fist. He looks at me like I'm stupid and holds up a small black suitcase. Oh! that's my suitcase, how the bloody hell did I forget that?
Stupidity, proof right there guys! I am stupid.

Taking my suitcase from him, I thank him quietly and before I turn around to go, he holds my arm. Now what does he want?!

"You still have to smile." He says. I shake my head and pull my arm away, only to be stopped again.

"Dude! smile!" This time he's deadly serious. It is quite intimidating. Sighing heavily I fake a quick smile and he lets me go. as soon as I'm sure he has driven off, I enter my flat block and use my key to get into mine and Jess's flat. It's dark and rather quiet. There's no lights on, no curtains open, no sign of Jess. I dump my suitcase on the soft carpet next to me and flick the switch, the bright light illuminating the hallway like the moon.

"Jessie?" I call out hoping that she's home. She should've finished work three hours ago so she should be home. I walk through the white walled, narrow hallway and into the pale blue living room which is shaped like a box. But its a big box so all is good. The television is on with film credits rolling up the screen. So she has been home because she was watching a film.

"Oh Dan! you're home" I hear my girl say softly. I turn the living room lights on and run to the sofa where Jess is laying. She sits up, her beautiful hair falling over her shoulders.

"I missed you" I reply whilst taking her body into my arms. God I love this woman so much.

"Something's wrong" She pulls away. I look at her confusingly. "I can sense it, something is bothering you" she finishes, moving my slightly messy hair from my face.

"I... I had another fight with Woody at the airport earlier." I confess and Jess pulls me into a tight, warming hug. I kiss her softly but then she pulls away again.

"What's up?" I question.

"Someone's at the door, did you not hear?" She says and I shake my head. I go rather oblivious around Jess, she's my world an I don't know what i'd do without her. We've been together nearly four years. That's a long time I know, but I'm trying to find the perfect time to propose to her, I want to make it special. We first met in the park near our flat. Boring I know but back then I wasn't in a good way and she brought me to my senses, spotted me standing next to the large pond and stopped me from doing anything stupid that day.

Jess opens the front door and I hear Charlie's voice. Why is he here? Oh, did I mention that he lives next door to us? He's single so he lives on his own but he's happy, the boys and his band often visit, though Charlie's band mates are all in Leeds right now so it's just me, Kyle, Will and Woody that visit. And of course our girls sometimes come too.

"Hey Jessica! where's Danny boy?" he asks. That name again! Argh! I join Jess at the door and Charlie smiles.

"Woody is really sorry Dan, he is worried about you, we all are" He tells me.

"Well don't worry about me. None of you should." I reply quietly.

"But we-"

"I'm not a baby, Charlie"
