"What?" was the only word I could manage to utter.
"Yes, Luna, you're my mate. God, I have been waiting for this day for so long," he declared, a confident grin lighting up his face as he advanced.
Taking a wary step back, I questioned, "This can't be... and how do you know my name? I never mentioned it to any of you."
Lupus sighed, disappointment shadowing his features, and then unexpectedly stripped off his T-shirt.
"What on earth are you doing?" I inquired, bewildered.
"There's something you must see," he replied, revealing a birthmark mirroring mine – an unmistakable 'L.' Mine adorned my arm, while Lupus proudly displayed his on his chest.
In astonishment, I stared, and he quickly covered up. "Gabriella foresaw that my mate, born under the full moon, would be named Luna, carrying the moon's light. Your birthmark is the proof. When I saw it while you slept, I realized the truth. You're my mate, Luna. Every Alpha's mate is a Luna. It can't be a mere coincidence. This is your realm and your kin."
Uncertain of how to react, I stammered, "No... no, this has to be a mistake. Perhaps you've confused me with another Luna," I protested and stood up.
"Luna, consider it... it can't be some coincidence. The birthmark, your arrival in Lycanthor, and the inexplicable connection we share. Admit it to yourself, don't you sense something extraordinary when we're together? And ask yourself how did your wounds heal so quickly after my blood touched them. Think about it, Luna. I know it's hard to take in, but it's nothing but the truth."
And that's when I realized my wounds have healed.
Instead of responding, I fled, unable to confront the reality.
"Luna, come back!" he pleaded.
"Leave me alone. I don't want to see your face or anybody," I retorted.
Sprinting away, I didn't sense his pursuit. Perhaps he gave me space to reflect. I ran without direction, simply seeking escape. I just wanted to be somewhere far away, a place where he is not.
Destiny had a cruel jest – to pair me with the man who stripped me of pride, a murderer, a criminal, and a relentless ruthless alpha.
The one who took my sister away, my Los Angeles kin, making my mother loose both of her daughters - one dead and the other lost in the wilderness. He subjected me to torture and shattered my life.
How could fate be so heartless? He's a beast, devoid of humanity, acquainted only with bloodshed and cruelty.
All he does is torture and kill. He doesn't care about humanity. Fate has a perverse way of bringing people in suffering.
I slowed down as I scanned my surroundings.
Gosh, where am I...
I seemed to have run too far. I needed to confront the truth; I was lost. Scanning the unfamiliar forests, I felt lost and helpless. With no alternative, I pressed forward, hoping to come across a nearby village.
While attempting to gather my thoughts, a sudden movement interrupted me.
It must be Malcon; perhaps that wretch sent him.
Yet, I paid it little mind, as I had vowed not to allow them to reclaim me. So, I pressed on.
However, the same chills I experienced upon first encountering Lupus suddenly enveloped me. This wasn't Malcon; it was a different presence.
Chills!
"Hello, Malcon," I cloaked composure in my voice, though it wavered.
I sensed it following my every move. My body heated up, and in the blink of an eye, a figure raced in front of me, swifter than the wind.
Surveying my surroundings cautiously, my gut trembled. Glancing behind me revealed nothing, but when I looked forward, that's when I saw it staring at me. My voice was gone; I couldn't even scream or move.
I had never encountered anything like this before.
End of chapter..please press the star...
Thanks for making it this far with me...xoxo
