Liza's world was small. It was simply her and Milo, safe inside the walls of her condo, undisturbed and untouched by the dangers of the outside universe and the horrors that came from its untrustworthy inhabitants.
Realistically, she knew it was unhealthy to remain so closed off. But this spiral had been unavoidable, and now . . . Well, now, she was too comfortable, and the outside was too scary, for her to desire change.
She had learned through the blood of others that placing trust in strangers could result in terror and death; she would be foolish to make the same mistake again. So, instead of venturing out, where she could be harmed again, she remained in her safe place, with Milo, her security, and she was content.
Not happy, necessarily, and certainly not healthy—both mentally and physically—but content.
And, considering her past experiences, to be 'content' was more than she would have previously expected.
