Val had known Carol for over a year now. They had become close friends following the Endgame battle, but now it has morphed into something else. And to be honest, neither of them would change a single thing.

Val loved it when Carol would curl up in her arms while they watched a movie on Val's couch, and the way the blonde would snuggle into her at night as they lay curled up in Val's bed.

But every once and a while, Carol would have to leave earth for a while. Val understood, it was all part of the job, part of being a cosmic knight in shining armor.

Little did Val know, Carol was keeping a secret. A big secret.

As Val walked onto Aladna with Carol, Monica, and Kamala, she was surprised to see some man calling her girlfriend his wife. Val was dumfounded, was Carol just using her this whole time? Or was Carol unhappy in her marriage? Was she forced into this hetero marriage against her will?

Val couldn't stop the questions, even as she got to see Carol in that dress. My princess, Val thought with a smile and a sigh. My princess.

Later that day, they were back on the spaceship, and Val was sat on Carol's bed, waiting for the blonde to come to bed.

"You okay, Val?" Carol asks, walking into the room in a white tank top and grey sweatpants. "After Aladna, you seemed like your mind was somewhere else."

"You're married." Val says softly. "You never told me about that, Carrie."

"He doesn't mean anything to me. It was purely political." Carol assures her, sitting beside her. "Val, I don't even like boys. I like you."

"I like you, too." Val says softly, tucking a bit of blonde hair behind her ear. "Actually, I...I love you."

"I love you too." Carol says softly, leaning in and kissing her oh-so-sweetly. "My king."

"My princess." Val says playfully, earning a chuckle from the blonde.

She had the most beautiful laugh and the sweetest smile, reserved only for those closest to her, but those soft lips were truly reserved only for her king.
