Elle's Point of View:
Over the years, Delilah's place has become more like a home to me. Especially, after my older siblings moved out of our family home, I have spent even more time at Deli's. Last five years I have been the only child in our household, and it has been a very miserable half a decade.
Here we are, once again spending the weekend at hers. We even invited Tilda. I was excited to spend some time with the girls. As soon as I arrived, we started getting ready for the tonight's party, where as I thought we were just going to chill, eat and watch movies.
Apparently, some guys from the football team decided to throw a welcoming party for new exchange students, and nobody cared to inform me beforehand. Maybe, it has something to with the fact that if I knew, I wouldn't have come here in the first place. Fannie and Delilah are both well aware that parties weren't my scene.
"I'm not wearing that!"
"Oh yes you are!"
"If I'm agreeing to go to this thing, let me at least wear my own clothes" As I wasn't prepared for a party, I was going to have to wear whatever casual clothes I brought with me for our 'sleepover', but I was more than okay with it. Anything was better than the sequin nightmare Delilah is trying to make me wear.
"Boring, but I'll do your hair and makeup" Delilah said in defeat.
Fine, I could live with that.
Looking at us, it's easy to see how very different we are from each other. An outsider might wonder how three, well four now, such different personalities manage to form such a close-knit group.
Delilah is a firecracker, her red hair matching her vibrant personality. Being very smart and good at school, doesn't stop her from pushing boundaries or speaking her mind, often giving her parents heart attacks.
Fannie's more down to earth, she spends her free time painting, baking or meditating in the forest. I'm convinced her wardrobe consists solely of cute floral dresses.
I don't know much about Tilda, so far she seems to be the blonde-haired version of me - sweet, shy and innocent, with less trauma.
After we decided on our outfits, we shifted our focus to hair and makeup. Fannie's job was to curl everybodys hair, when Delilah concentrated on the makeup. I let them do their job, I trust they won't go overboard.
With my makeup done and hair freshly curled covered in ten layers of hairspray, I change into my outstanding party outfit; wide-legged jeans and white crop top. Deli wearing tight mini skirt with a sequin top, Fannie in her usual floral dress and Tilda in body hugging long sleeve mini dress, I definitely do stand out with my looks.
"Are you bitches ready to party?" Delilah shouted over the blasting music playing on the speakers, trying to get us in the mood. She takes out the bottle of vodka she keeps hidden in her drawer. Passing it on, everyone takes small sips, including me.
My dad lets me drink at home sometimes, so alcohol doesn't bother me. But adding stupid horny teenage boys into the mix, that's when I get uncomfortable, hence why I don't go to parties. Getting just a little bit tipsy helps me relax and get through tonight.
Delilah's big sister, Rafaela, drops us off at Jonah's house, where the party is being held. It's 9 pm and the party is already in full swing.
I linger behind, slowly taking it all in, as the girls enter the house.
"Isn't it the Powerpuff girls" some guy shouted the minute they got inside. Looking at them, I can see what he means. Fannie has black hair, Delilah's redhead and Tilda being blonde, they indeed look exactly like the Powerpuff girls. Me and my brown hair feel left out.
