AND WHEN THE SEASONS CHANGE
☥. chapter one

"Welcome to Australia" Dovelyn smiled, holding her arms out widely. Her fiancé Katie getting out of the Uber behind her.

"Love, we've been here for four hours already. Maybe you should've welcomed me back when we got off the plane" Katie softly smiled. Rolling both their luggage's towards Katies hotel, they were staying together for a few days before Dovelyn was going to stay with Caitlin and the Matildas. No one knew she was in Australia yet, she wanted to keep it that way before she was stolen from Katie.

Dove frowned "I forgot."

Katie chuckled as Dove opened the door for her "You're gonna make beating your ass in this tournament so much harder with that face."

Dove rolled her eyes "you've got way to much confidence for a leprechaun."

"Oi" Katie replied back in her thick Irish accent, sending the receptionist of the hotel a nice smile, telling the lady her name, the lady handed Katie a key.

The two walked towards the elevator "when are the rest of them getting here?" Dove questioned "it's gonna be awkward to explain to your national teammates why I'm leaving your bedroom."

"I'll tell them you're a stalker" Katie replied "they won't be here for days, not until you leave. Which by the way, not quite happy about."

Dove shrugged as the elevator door dinged open alerting that they were on their floor "do you want to explain to Caitlin why you want me sleeping in your bed?"

Katie grimaced at the thought. For how nice Caitlin seemed, she was terrifying when it came down to her twin sister. She likes to take being older by nine minutes and use it against Dove to act like an overprotective big sister. Katie knew better than to have to sugar coat their relationship to Caitlin.

"Yeah. Nevermind." Katie hummed: tapping their keycard to the door, she opened the door wide, revealing a one bed room. "Home sweet home."

Dove — not having anything to carry due to Katie — ran foward, flying onto the massive queen sized bed "fuck man. this is the life."

Katie laughed. Placing the two suitcases neatly to the side, she nudged her fiancé to move over from her starfish position, sliding into the bed beside her. "I could die here" Katie sighed, her body sinking into the comfortable mattress.

"Make that the two of us" Dove mumbled, although her voice was muffled due to her face being shoved into the bed "I feel very fulfilled right now"

"Oh?" Katie raised an eyebrow "even without a glazed donut? This bed must be it for you."

"I love it" Dove smiled, turning on her side to face Katie "even more than I love you."

Katie scoffed "thanks love. I quite enjoy being compared to a fucking bed."

Katie went to get off the bed, but her arm was tugged back and she fell back onto the bed, coming face to face with the woman she loved.

Dove loved moments like these, they were so close, she felt like she could be vulnerable, she laid her whole heart in the hands of Katie McCabe and Katie knew that aswell.

Dove ran a light hand over Katie's jaw line "I love you"

Katie's eyes softened, she would be teased about the way she was around her fiancé when people found out. The strong willed, confident woman she was most days faded away into kindness and sincerity around the Foord.

Katie's hand cupped the side of Doves face, tucking some fallen hair behind her girls ear "I love you so much more"

A smile tugged at the sides of Doves lips "you are such a liar."

"Me?" Katie gasped "how am i a liar? I love you more."

Dove shook her head with a loud laugh "whatever helps you sleep at night."

"You order" Dove pushed Katie forward

Katie's jaw dropped as she whipped her head around "no bitch. You're the one that lives here. You order."

"Excuse me?" Dove placed her hands on her hips "what did you just call me?"

"A. Bitch."

Dove didn't hesitate for a moment before pushing Katie into the line at Maccas. An old lady appearing behind her, forcing Katie in the line. Katie turned to her fiancé "betrayal. I'm getting you back for this"

"Happy meal—"

"Three chicken nuggets, apple slices and a goddamn bottle of apple juice. I know" Katie rolled her eyes, dove opened her mouth to speak but Katie cut her off again "and a M&M McFlurry."

Dove smiled proudly. Looking around for a secluded spot, she found a table in the back corner. She waited patiently for Katie to arrive back with their orders, playing 8ball with Caitlin on her phone as she was messaging her Matildas captain and Arsenal teammate Steph, telling her that her plane couldn't be moved foward and that she would arrive in a few days.

When Katie returned with their meals, Dove placed her phone down immediately. Giving her fiancé all her undivided attention.

"Inflammation is sending me broke" Katie complained "thirty five pounds—"

"Dollars"

"Pounds fucking dollars, same thing love" Katie waved it off "one day I'm gonna have nothing in my bank. What am I gonna do to afford a house? No one's gonna want to buy you — I'll sell you're ring."

Dove raised her eyebrows "I believe this belongs to me, you can't sell it" Dove held up her finger, showcasing the fat silver diamond on her ring finger.

Katie shook her head, taking a bite into her burger "I brought it, I proposed, I can easily take that all away and sell the ring."

Dove sighed "babe, thirty five dollars isn't even that much, Macca's is always been expensive. You brought two McFlurries, they're like four bucks each"

"What?" Katie gasped

Dove knitted her brows together "did you not check the screen to see the price before you ordered absolutely anything?"

Katie shook her head.

"Well no wonder you have no money" Dove threw her hands in the air "you're not careful with the way you're spending it."

Katie raised an eyebrow "you saying I should take back you're $5,199 ring and swap it for a plastic $5 kmart one?"

Dove's jaw slacked "you spent how much on this ring?"

"$5,199, without taxes" Katie smiled proudly.

"Katie youre worried about spending thirty seven dollars at McDonalds when you spent 12 hundred on an engagement ring?" Dove questioned

"Yes" Katie nodded her head "because this food is just gonna go straight through us and that's $37 dollars wasted and gone while you get to wear that ring for the rest of your life"

"What if I leave you here and run back to England?" Dove asked as a joke "what are you doing with the $5,199 ring that I left behind."

"Finding you and putting it back on your finger" Katie answered, digging her chips into her icecream "love, you aren't fucking escaping me. If you wanted to run you needed to before I realised I was in love with you"
