A FEW DAYS later, Celia was trapped in her room. She had mess hall duty today (Kurt loved loading the hardest duties onto her), but she found something wrong with her room. She couldn't find her Salem Lot copy. Anywhere in her room.
It was a wild mess as her violent search moved across her area of the cabin. But it was nowhere to be found. Now, she was checking underneath her bed. Perhaps she had dropped it while unpacking? It seemed unlikely, but she had no other choice. It had to be under there.
There was a knock at the door. "Come in!" Celia shouted, not looking at the door. Instead, she continued searching.
Unbeknownst to her, it was Nick looking for his cleaning partner. They had planned to meet at the Mess Hall, but she hadn't been there.
Nick made his way in further, unable to find the girl from his quick scan of the room, "Cece?" He called out.
"Over here," Celia grumbled, tossing a shirt out from under her bed. How did this even get here? She pondered, blinking at the fabric for a few seconds before she continued searching.
Nick walked over to her bed, finding the girl almost halfway under her small bed. He couldn't help but laugh as he looked at her position, "What are you doing?"
Celia ignored his question and pushed herself out of the bed, looking up at him. He only laughed harder though, as her hair was a birds nest. "How did you know I was here?"
"I asked Ziggy. After a lot of convincing and some bribery, she told me." He looked at her sitting position, her knees pressed against the floor. He cleared his throat quickly, "We have to clean the mess hall now...What are you doing?" He had a suspicion.
"I can't find my book." She answered bluntly, blinking at him for a few seconds before she turned back to her bed.
Nick furrowed his eyebrows, "What?"
"I can't find my book." Celia repeated, lifting a shirt on her bed as though the book would be under it (even though she had tossed it on top of the bed during her search). It wasn't.
The boy watched her actions in bewilderment and slight amusement, "...This is important right now?"
"Yes, Nick," Celia gave him a short glare before turning away from him, as he wasn't her favorite copy of Salem's Lot, "this is important right now."
