My Friend Kai

I went to check on Grayson today since I found out from Kai (The kids know him as Mr. Reeds) about what had happened to him. There were only four more days left and I wanted to make the most of it. Actually, I just wanted a day where I could sleep in. He was getting treated for his wounds in the Academy's infirmary in a separate part from where Klaus and Cole were. There were bandages wrapped around the parts of his body where some of the glass had cut and stabbed him. Kai was watching over him as the nurses finished applying the new bandages for the day. He was busy chatting with him as I approached them.

"So, how'd you end up crashing through a window fast enough to break glass?" I asked Grayson.

"Oh, well, I was kind of thrown at the window. Of course that would happen to someone like me. Such terrible luck even when I know what's going to happen."

"So you knew that you were going to get thrown at a window, but you didn't do anything about it? Why?"

"Because changing the future is impossible. Life is predetermined and I accept my fate as it is."

Kai joined in, "Eh, I wouldn't say that. Seeing the future could save so many lives! You've just got to believe that your choices can affect the world, man! Besides, what's there to lose?"

"Yeah, what he said. Also, I need your help with something. Are you okay enough to follow me?" I questioned.

"Uh, yeah, I'm good to go. Where are we going?"

"I'd like you to see the futures of two students. Don't say anything to them if they're awake. I need someone who isn't close to either of them to help me with the final word."

"Hey, what about me?" Kai said.

"What about you? You're going to be too loud."

"What?? No, man, I promise that I won't! You have my word!"

"I can't trust your word."

"Ugh, you're still mad about how I dated your sister even when you didn't approve of it? Fine, I swear on my cat that I won't make a sound!"

"Pfft, your cat? Hah, alright, deal. Let's go, Grayson. You too, Kai."

The three of us walked out of the smaller part of the infirmary and into the main room where Cole and Klaus were resting. Cole was asleep, while Klaus was awake and reading one of the magazines from a pile of magazines on a cart next to his bed. He noticed us and waved. He asked Grayson if he was doing alright and he nodded in response. I told Klaus that Grayson was here to see his future and he was immediately interested. Grayson took this as a sign to begin and put his hand on Klaus's arm. After a couple of seconds, he took his hand off and looked over at me. He asked me what he wanted to know. I told him to tell us anything out of the ordinary that Klaus might've said or done.

"Alright. I saw that Klaus was ambushed with another guy by a tall blonde dude with fire. He wasn't very good at fighting him, but with the help of his companion he managed to fight him off. There was also this other kid that I happen to know who was laughing at him like he went crazy," Grayson said.

"Who was the kid who was laughing?"

"Cole. He's the guy who threw me into the locker a while ago."

Klaus joined in, "Huh? I fight a blonde fire guy? The only one I know would be my dad, but he's in jail right now!"

As we were talking, a nurse came by and said that Klaus was free to leave the infirmary. Klaus thanked her and we all went over to Cole's bed. He was still sleeping. It was probably because Kai hadn't said anything. He was too loud for his own good when talking. Anyway, Grayson did the same thing that he had done to Klaus and told us the news.
