Four months later
Akari's PoV:
It has been months since I met Asta and Yuno--well uh more like spied? Asta doesn't have magic....but yet he still got a grimoire. But I will now get to see their capabilities as today, it's the Magic Knights Entrance Exam. Captain Vangeance gave me the honor to be the example for the examinees. The was a huge crowd of people my age and older were there. I was using the hood of my squad uniform robe to cover my face although it would do no good to me as they would recognise my uniform. After a lot of convincing I got Hikaru to stay in my grimoire.
Captain Vangeance allowed me to roam around the shops and maybe even buy something. I could see and hear from a distance people getting their numbers from the entrance. This brought back so many memories from last year when I joined. It was honestly very easy to trick people into thinking I was fifteen and old enough to take the exam due to my height. When in reality I took the exam at age fourteen. The only person who knows about my true age is Captain Vangeance. I respect him more than anyone. Sometimes I do wonder who the mysterious man under the mask truly is.
Above there were anti magic birds flying. These birds never dared to come near me. Kinda sad to be honest, I find these birds cute, but I guess that means I'm strong and worthy enough to be the next wizard queen, I even asked the wizard king about it. He's quiet a energetic man I must say.
"The infamous anti birds of the exam venue," someone from the crowd spoke up "The weaker your magical abilities the more these birds get attracted to you."
"He look at that guy." Someone else spoke up. "No birds are going towards him." I followed the man's graze only to see Yuno standing there with no birds near him.
People from the crowd recognised Yuno and started talking about him and how he got a four leaf clover grimoire. 'Well looks like he got famous.' My hand went towards my grimoire. Well at least no one really batted an eye towards me as I'm partly blending in. That was until Asta bumped into me while trying to get rid of the flock of anti-birds constantly pecking him. Most of the birds left the moment he bumped into me but only the stubborn ones stayed, pulling his cheeks.
The bump cause my hood to fall off but fortunately Asta did not fall. Everyone's attention went towards me. 'God I hate this.'
"Hey isn't she from golden dawn??"
"There are no birds near her either."
"Well she's a pretty one~"
"Yeah she sure is."
"Hey are you ok?" I asked Asta pretending I have no idea who he is. He was looking at me with stars in his eyes or looking at uniform.
"No way!! You're a magic knight right?!" 'Geez he's loud' "Correct."
"Yuno!! Look a magic knight!!" Asta called out to his childhood friend or rival. Yuno looked at me from the corner of his eyes, I could see his eyes widened a bit. Asta returned to struggling with the birds and that's when he made a big mistake. He bumped into the captain of the black bulls, Captain Yami.
The birds surrounding Asta screamed at flew away. There was a murderous aura surrounding Captain Yami and it was directed towards Asta I just knew it.
"Man that was tough." Asta said and turned towards Captain Yami. "Hey, sorry for bumping into you." Asta put a hand on Captain Yami's shoulder.
"Man, you look old. You must've had a hard life!!" 'Oh he's done it now' Captain Yami's eye twitched in annoyance. He put his big hand of Asta's head gripping him tight causing Asta to Yelp in pain and grab Captain Yami's arm.
"It appears you have a death wish kid." Captain Yami said calmly but his face said otherwise.
"C-Captain Yami! I suggest you put him down. He is a examinee after all." I tried to come to Asta's defence.
"Oh. You're here too? Do you know him? Also aren't you supposed to be with goldy?" Captain Yami started to question me, but before I could answer I was interrupted.
"Hey! What are you doing down here?" ' oh it's Finral. Finral to the rescue!'
"I'm about to end this twerps life." Captain Yami said gripping Asta's head harder causing his feet to lift off the ground.
"Well, well, well,~ if it isn't my favourite Vice captain from the golden dawn, Akari~." Finral said in a flirtly tone.
"Hello to you too Finral." I said with a smile on my face. It's good to see Finral he knows how to lighten the mood.
Suddenly fireworks started, that meant the exam is about to start. 'Oh crap I need to get to Captain Vangeance fast.'
"Come on we need to go, the exam is about to start." Finral told Captain Yami, causing him to drop Asta. Asta tried numbing the pain by ruffling his hair.
"Akari, need a ride?" Finral asked.
"No, but thanks for the offer. You know I run as fast as light itself which is probably faster than your spatial portal." I said confidently, knowing well what I'm betting for.
"Oh? You wanna bet?" Finral dared. "Sure." I agreed "See you there" Finral just chuckled and disappeared into his portal.
I turned towards Asta "Well I'll look forward to seeing you in one of the Magic knights squad including your friends Yuno over there." I said. Bright light emitted from my body. Within a few seconds I was gone from there and next to Captain Vangeance.
"Hello Akari." Captain Vangeance greeted "Hello captain apologises for being late." I apologised
"No need to apologise you're right on time, Yami just arrived." Captain reassured. I looked over and saw Finral and Gordon along with Captain Yami coming out of the portal. I saw Finral's jaw dropped see me next to my captain before him.
He mouthed a 'how?!' And I just smirked to that.
'This is going to be so much fun'
