You stared curiously through the window as the car sped along the highway, watching the sky and the landscape. After all, you haven't been to a beach for years.

"This will be the best summer of our life," your brother's girlfriend Connie said with a grin.

"You think so?" you asked her with a chuckle.

"I know so. We're finally 21. I'm going to drink so much."

You let out a snort, "You really think my brother will let me drink? You know he's an overprotective idiot."

Connie grinned as she tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, in sync with the song playing on the radio. "Don't worry about it. Steve does what I tell him."

"Oh my god, Yes. We can help you meet some guys. You know, set you up so Steve won't know shit," Connie's cousin Olivia said with a grin.

Without replying, you looked out the window again and watched the landscape. You had mixed feelings about the trip. You almost canceled, but your brother Steve was able to persuade you to come along.

And so it came to be that your group of friends sat together in front of a campfire on the beach that evening. It was already a bit chilly, which made Connie and Steve cuddle.

Next to the couple sat a drunk Olivia, who told the story of how she once broke her arm because of her neighbor. She was loud and laughing a lot, and Colin - a close friend of Steve and Javi - sat next to Olivia and stared at her admiringly.

Since everyone else won't be arriving until the next few days, you and Javier are the only ones left. And so you both sat on the third wooden bench.

You didn't really have a problem with Javier, but it was still a little weird. Although you've known each other since childhood - Javi and Steve are both two years older than you - you never really talk to him that much. Probably because Steve has often told his best friend that he should leave you alone.

Javier's been a playboy since he was 16. And you're a little surprised why he hasn't brought a date on the trip.

"Everything okay?" his deep voice pulled you out of your thoughts.

You looked over to him, his gaze was fixed on your face as he took a sip of his beer.

"Oh yeah, just lost in thoughts, sorry," you replied and offered a small smile.

Javier just nodded. Normally he never really showed much emotion, so you were all the more surprised when he put his hand on the headrest of the bench.

Since the night air was a bit cooler, his touch was even hotter. His hand was on your back, between your shoulder blades and you had to suppress a small gasp, you didn't want your brother to know, because then Javier would remove his arm immediately.

But you liked it, so you leaned back a little more. And after a few minutes, when he began to caress your back gently, you closed your eyes in relaxation.
